Scepticism and Experience

The downside of graduating from a newbie and having yourself acquainted with the ways of affiliate marketing and the whole blogging business is that you become more mistrustful of the various writings you find on the web on internet marketing. When you are a newbie and you are just stepping into that mysterious jungle called internet marketing, your mind is more impressionable and there is a general uncritical acceptance of whatever is written by the many bloggers in your niche. That makes it much easier to do your own research and assimilate the import of the message you find in these blogs. The eagerness to learn new things overrides your natural inclination to be unbelieving and you try to forage for new information and any valuable idea that could form the basis for your next blog post.

Honestly, it’s not easy to write when you’re inexperienced. There are dark clouds of doubt hanging over you perennially and pressing that “publish” button takes a lot of nudging from behind. The writing sounds contrived and you need to constantly remind yourself that you should not be your own harshest critic. But the advantage of being a newbie, as I said in the beginning, is that it’s easier to read other people’s blogs and writings on the topics you intend to write. You read these blogs not only to understand the subject but also to see if there’s anything that you could say in your own post things that others have missed. In the beginning, you are mostly indifferent to whether the blogs that you read are the “authority” ones or are written by relatively inexperienced bloggers. You just read because you are eager to learn. Simple.

With some experience, you begin to realise that the internet space is also populated by newbie bloggers who themselves are learning the ropes of internet marketing. And if despite gaining some knowledge, you’re still struggling to drive the traffic to your blog, you become sceptical and start seeing things in black and white only. For you, there are no grey shades in between and, the blogging world is divided into two distinct immiscible categories: the highly successful bloggers (very few) and the struggling bloggers like yourself.

With time, the urge to read other people’s blogs for new information wanes and you rely only on a few authority blogs. This is not bad actually though. But keeping yourself confined to a few so-called authority blogs, you miss the vibrancy of the writings by serious newbies. You start missing the various acute-angled views. Why is it that we encounter writer’s block as we become more resourceful? Is it not an irony that it gets difficult to create regular blog posts when you are more knowledgeable than before? This new low is, perhaps, only a transient phase before the upturn starts. But this is also a reminder that you’re still a novice in many ways.

Blogging involving writing foreign ideas and using foreign language is like venturing into the the unknown

Great informative and well-written post. It details for the reader
all the different styles and methods employed by different writers
from different backgrounds with a wide range of experience levels. I can see how that makes it difficult for many to come to
the decision about who to believe.

Cheers,
Ken

Thanks for the like. I appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing.

So true!! You don't hear about too many newbies getting writers block!!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Yes, not too many newbies suffer from writer's block. Their minds are unburdened, uncritical and in many ways more receptive to new things.

reading and looking at other people's sites provides so much information now that you have a better idea of what you are looking at and how much effort it took to create

Within WA itself, I have seen some great stuff from newbies who are still with their .siterubix.com subdomains. That they are new is obvious from the way they have designed their websites but some of their posts are really amazing.

absolutely, I agree

With reading experience comes eventual dismemberment and expertise!

True, Mike.
