Please Use Favicons!
Favicons are those inconspicuous, small icons that appear on the browser tabs and bookmark lists that represent the brand of a website. They appear next to the website title in all browsers that have tabbed interface. One thing I have noticed here in many of the websites of WA members (specially beginners) is that there are no favicons used. This is one area of website building that I feel is largely ignored and some people might actually feel it’s quite insignificant as long as the traffic is there.
Well, I beg to differ. To me, favicons are as important as the header image, if not more, in branding our website. Online business, like all offline businesses is all about gaining trust of our customers, and favicons do reflect a sense of authority and seriousness about the brand. With no favicon used, a default blank image appears on the browser tab and it reflects a lack of seriousness and carelessness of the brand. When two websites in the same niche are placed side-by-side in the browser tabs, one with a beautiful favicon and the other without it (with default blank page icon), which of the two do you think lends a better brand image? We do want a brand image of our own, don’t we?
I do not know if favicons have SEO benefits. But a favicon makes a website appear trust-worthy. Personally, I would trust a website with a favicon more than one without it. And I think there are many people out there who feels like me.

It is very important. But there are many websites out there without favicons. Whenever I'm offered websites for feedback, I always ask the owners to use favicons when I don't see one.

There are online favicon generators. I created my own favicon and did not have to use the online generators you can try them. Some of them are
