Of Newbies and Being Assertive

They say fear and insecurity go hand in hand with creativity and self-expression. As a blogger, and especially when you are a newbie, you often have to battle with self-doubts. Perhaps more than the feelings of inadequacy you might have for the many technical skills required for successfully running a website or a blog, the frustrations of being a newbie are real and can be crippling.

“Nobody’s going to ever read this. Who am I fooling…”

“Who am I to say this? In any case, I sound pretentious at best…”

“I’m a newbie and it’ll be conspicuous in my writings. Don’t I sound like a wannabe…”

Most people start MMO blogs to make money online. There’s nothing wrong with that. The problem comes when we have to deal with some of the most distrustful and cynical audiences in the whole wide universe! I don’t have the statistics to back my assertion but I’m sure MMO niche is a real big one and is one of the most popular niches around. But when you are a newbie with an MMO blog and you yourself are trying to learn the ropes of online business, you are bound to go into nasty phases of serious self-doubts when you sit down in front of your computer to create new content or your next blog post.

How to sound like a pro when you are a newbie? That’s the billion dollar question for any beginner. Nobody wants to be just another mediocre blogger and whatever your reasons are for starting a blog (business, hobby or both), you want to be heard. And we all know how important it is for us to remain confident because credibility in our voice is going to come from our confidence in what we say.

So where does this leave you? If you’re a newbie and if you ever see your confidence slipping away, just know that you are not alone. All successful bloggers were once newbies and I’m pretty sure, they must have gone through same phase as you are in now.

The biggest advantage of being a beginner is that you are learning so many new things every day. At the same time, you are also making so many mistakes every day. You can well share these with others for whom it will be new information. In the blogging world, you are pretty much on your own to fend for yourself and to motivate yourself to rise up again. You need to enjoy what you are doing.

Great advice, i really love knowing i have so much support from so many people.

At least we're not alone here at WA. We can get help when we need it and that's major! Cheers.

Cheers to that!

Everyone is a “newbie” when they start. Even the “experts”.

So very true, Grant :)

Awesome blog. I've not read as good a blog as this one from even the veterans.
It has every element to reach the furthest edge unless found its echo clogged by some unknown agency.

You've vouchsafed an incredible inspiration for all to emulate irrespective of being a newbie or otherwise.

You are - supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Keep the momentum flowing.

Wow! That's some praise. I needed that :) Thanks.

You are the blogger, and it is you who needs to push yourself. Having said that, we all stumble at some point or another and reach out for a helping hand.

We are lucky here as not just one hand comes to your aid in times of need, but many.

Even the veterans become newbies when faced with something new, so never lose heart, or hope, for you are never alone :)

The ups and downs are very much a part of the journey. When the down comes, then it means the up is going to come soon :)

That is true. It can't be all downs all the time, as otherwise, it won't be worth living :)

Nice post. IT's really important to enjoy what you're doing. I'm a newbie and has lots of doubts. Fear? I guess no, but excited for the long term outcome of what I have started. The community here at WA are very supportive.

Hey, It is okay to have doubts. It makes me bare down and try harder and not make assumptions.

We have to look at the brighter side of things, I guess.

Nice again!

Wayne

Really good post

No one within WA need ever be alone with their insecurities. There is always someone here who will help you rise up again if you are feeling downhearted and insecure.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Thanks for dropping by, Karen. We sometimes need to remind ourselves that we are in a community of million-plus members. Our near-obsession with our website building can make us off-centre at times :)
