It’s an irony of sorts. Can anybody teach how to become a successful Internet marketer?

I mean, it’s easy to teach how and from where to buy domain names, how to register your domain to a hosting server, how to do the DNS settings, the Cloudfare, the WordPress, the plugins, the themes, inserting the visual elements, create Facebook and social media accounts, create email accounts, register for email service providers, design the subscribers’ forms, apply for affiliate networks, apply for Google AdSense, register for Google Analytics, register Google or Bing Webmaster Tools, create banners, create videos, create infographics.

Did you notice that all these are what we call the “technical” aspects of website or blog creation and their knowledge can be acquired all free – from various sources on the Internet?

These skills are necessary but they do not per se ensure your online success, do they? They can be all LEARNED.

So how do you teach someone to run a successful online business?

Just run a random Google search on the keywords “how to create a successful online business” and at once you’re bombarded with thousands of websites and videos telling you how to do it. As if they all had the recipe to create a magical concoction for transforming your dreams into reality.

Online success is the end result of so many factors but can be broadly grouped into two - technical and human. Let’s ignore the economic factors for the time being, although this can tip the scales too.

The technical factors can be mastered easily.

But the difference between success and failure has its origin in the human elements of the business.

This side encompasses the whole gamut of human factors – perseverance, focus, dedication, courage, compassion, understanding, inquisitiveness, integrity, imagination, maturity.

And it is difficult to teach how to improve these human factors.

It’s not as if we can compartmentalise the technical and human factors into two separate containers. The two are not immiscible too. They are interrelated.

Everything is an interplay of human emotions. You write a heart-felt and convincing blog post and it somehow connects with a reader who agrees to do what you say – sign-up, fill out a form or buy something.

So, whenever someone writes “how to write a sales copy that converts” or “learn to write beautiful content that connects with the readers” I’m like “Is it possible?”

Every “how to” post other than those relating to the technical aspects of website-building sounds somewhat…well, I fail to come up with the exact word to describe it. Fatuous?

Everybody is unique, and so the success paths are different. The life situations are different for everybody.

In the end, it's about acquiring the knowledge that helps me play out my skills within my life’s situation.

Hey Sukumarth,
I think you hit the nail on the head. There is a human side to this platform that so many people are missing!!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Well done Sukumarth!
You have detailed that elusive item that makes one site a success while a similar one fails...the human factor.
One must reach the right people at the optimal time to make a successful connection. That’s why continuous addition of content and utilizing ways to increase traffic are the best ways to achieve success.

Seeking gold
enriched those who provided the tools...
Seldom the diggers

There is a great lesson in this

Haha...gold digger, I am.

Most of us...

Digging in wrong place
With wrong tools

And trying
To find goldmine..l

:)

Knowledge is great however the action is also great
Thanks for sharing Sukumar
Vicki

True. And aren't the two interrelated? Like action leading to knowledge. Thanks for dropping by, Vicki. Best wishes for your online adventure!

Actually, I think It's the other way around. Knowledge should LEAD to action. Action has to come from within and that can only be SELF-taught. We have all the examples here at WA but nothing happens until WE take the action. No one can do that for us. We're it.

They most certainly are :)
