Down On The Upside (Of Writing)

It looks like a race against time. It looks like there’s no time to fine tune the articles that we publish. And I cannot help feeling concerned with the speed with which we are writing our posts to keep up with our own writing targets. Quantity over quality? Are we not churning out articles that are, quality-wise, sub-par? Are we even checking the diction? Remember, whatever updates in algorithm that Google throws up, the content is still king and is still very much relevant. Can we even hope of staying on top of the charts with an unchecked, hurriedly written content with all the SEO tricks in the world? Equating authority with quantity would be a mistake. It’s good if you can keep your writing engine roaring at full blast but it cannot be at the cost of quality. Why generate junk at all?

The problem with creating substandard articles on our blog is that there are no linkable pages worth the name for us to create internal linkings. What use is that linking effort when the source page itself is a shoddy piece of work?

Let’s not make the mistake of hurrying into contents without proper cross-checks. Let’s not forget that our best bet at rankings and gaining authority is in creating copy that is marketable. Be it long form, medium-length ones, our efforts should be centred around creating good content. Everything else is secondary. Backlinks? Don’t even think about it if you are trying to build quality links to a content that is jerry-built.

We are all hoping to be an authority someday, aren’t we?

You're absolutely right. Thanks for sharing.

I see your point. With adding media, etc, creating a good post takes time. Even so, I like to revisit my posts after a day or two to tweak it if needed. That said, I like the high goals because they keep me working hard.

I have been noticing that I have not been able to check my posts properly in my rush to publish articles frequently. Noticed certain mistakes only later. This post was more like talking to myself :)

Maybe there’s a silver lining. When we go back and make changes to posts it shows additional activity on google. Might improve our rankings.

Hehe...true. I didn't think of it.

I agree. I am aiming for quality and getting faster at it. :) ~Mark

Practice makes things perfect. We are all getting better at it. Cheers!

As a very slow content writer, I have stopped stressing over how many I do a week. I simply write what I can and hope to improve as time goes by.

We all improve over time.

However, it must be practised daily to be efficient.

This is an awesome post.
The fight for quality over quantity is absolutely to be followed.

Backlinks! shrugging it off from shoulders.

Quality over quantity everyday!

Wayne

Quality should always come first and foremost over quantity...
