Do Not Be Afraid to Ask Questions

Making small changes here and there on our website every now and then is the norm for some of us. There’s an irresistible urge to continuously make these minor alterations that the behaviour seems almost pathological. It’s as if we are never truly satisfied with the functionality and the overall looks of our website at any given point of time and that the compulsive modifications or customisations mean our website looks different on different days.

At its core, a website is all about giving a good user-experience. Whether it’s the aesthetics or the content, there’s so much we could play around with our website when striving for that ultimate user-experience.

There’s never a definitive design in WordPress and depending on how you would like to present yourself to the world, the customisations become necessary to suit to your taste or your business. One of the most important lessons that I learned with experience in my blogging journey is that it requires experience to know where or whom to turn to when I reach the dead-end or encounter an issue on my website.

Whenever I get stuck with an issue, and depending on the type of the issue, I take the help of

  1. The Wealthy Affiliate community.
  2. The SiteSupport at WA.
  3. The theme developers

Most of my technical (and non-technical) queries are met with satisfaction by my friends at WA. I have never hesitated to ask questions to the WA community and if necessary, I even PM some senior members to understand the issue or wriggle myself out of any problem.

Secondly, if it’s related to technical stuff, I approach the SiteSupport. The help is instant and I come out completely satisfied every time. I sometimes think that I have given the poor SiteSupport guys enough headache already!

Thirdly, if it is a theme-specific issue, I approach the theme developers directly. Remember, even the best-rated Premium WordPress themes are not without issues and bugs. I’m lucky that I have been receiving amazing support from my theme developers for all theme-related issues on my website. I’m happy that some issues I brought up to their attention came up as fixes in routine theme updates. Till now, I have brought up four issues already that got covered in their theme updates. See? I have been contributing my bit to the theme developers and there are actually people who got benefited from my constant pestering.

So friends, do not be afraid to ask questions. Your questions benefit so many people, you know. Someone rightly said, “Do not be afraid to ask the dumb question. They are easier to handle than dumb mistakes.”

Thank you

Wayne

You right. Just asking. Answer is on the way.

You are absolutely right. Ask questions is probably the best advice we can give people, especially newbies like myself.

Even if the question sounds naive, it's always better to clear our doubts then and there rather than sweeping them under the carpet.

We should always be questing for perfection Sukumar!

True, Mike. And in our quest for perfection, we also gain much knowledge.

Love that last quote!

Excellent advice!! We all need to be asking questions because that helps others also.

Tried and True

Asking questions help others too. There's so much to learn and the resources we have here in WA is amazing.

Excellent advice S! Not asking questions is wasting the resources we have here.

Yeah, we have free support here. Why not use it fully :)

How do you ask questions to theme developers?

The theme I'm using comes bundled with free support for six months. On payment, I could extend this support duration. All I do is visit the forum page for my theme and ask questions there. The theme developers handle these questions directly, and if any issue is there with the theme, it is rectified instantly.

The only stupid question, is the one not asked. You have done a great job with your theme developers and I agree that site support here are totally brilliant.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Yes, I have taken the help of the theme developers with some theme issues. They were real issues which ultimately got fixed in subsequent updates. They are thankful that I pointed them out :) I have a free 6-month free support for my theme and it's going to expire in another four months. I'll be extending the support duration (on payment).
