Test of Tenacity
As many of you know, I gave up coffee and chocolate until Easter (3 more days by the way – whooo hooo). This morning my church served coffee, donuts, juice and fruit at the commuter lot. In the DC area, commuting is a big thing.
Of course, I was one of those people out there doing this. Sometimes I wonder if I’m crazy. LOL. At 3:30 am, I felt like that guy in the commercial that is all blurry eyed and says “I gotta make the donuts”. I actually had to go into Dunkin Donuts and pick up the supplies ---- 55 boxes of donuts and more importantly, 25 boxes of coffee. Now, I knew wine came in boxes, but who knew coffee came in boxes.
They’re lucky I made it to the commuter lot with all that stuff in my car! I wanted to pull up on the side of the road and drink the coffee straight from the box!!! No, I did NOT but it was VERY hard. It was TRULY a test of my willpower.
It was dark and very cold out because of the wind this am. This is my team and what I look like at 4:00 am freezing.
I used to be one of those people standing in line waiting for the bus or in the slug line. A slug line is basically professional, organized hitch hiking. While we were out there to serve others today, I think I got more out of this than they did. I was able to see some of the people I used to commute with. This experience made me realize how thankful I am to be working with WA right now and NOT being them any longer, I realized how blessed I am. Yes, I worked hard for everything that I have at this point in my life and I sacrificed but now I can enjoy my life. I have a nice warm house to come to and plenty to eat.
So, the lessons for the day are, DO the work so you can reap the rewards and last but not least, when you find that you are able to do so, ALWAYS give back and be willing to serve others. Many times you will end up getting a benefit as well.
Happy Easter to All !!!!!!

Great post and Great lessons for the day! Happy Resurrection and God's continued Blessings to you, Christa:)
Congratulations on giving up for chocolate. I envy you, I did for one week, but skipped for one day, now I am on chocolate diet till Easter too.
I too feel blessed. I particularly enjoy being free to choose how to spend my time and I do my best to use it in ways that will help and support others.
Happy Easter to you too - and happy coffee drinking then!
Hey Debbi, this is such a sweet blog. It's always nice to give back. :) I know it must have been tempting buying all that coffee. You're almost there! :))
