Know It's Possible

I’ve been here a while so many of you know that I stand just under 5 ft. My parents were short yet my only brother is very tall. I tell him he was adopted but, in reality, most of my aunts and uncles were tall.

I don’t really care that I’m on the short side but my weight and I have had a CONSTANT battle my whole life. Even a 5 lb change in weight is noticeable. So, I TRY to watch what I eat but I love everything bad. So, my only option is to exercise. One of the things that I do is walk or hike.

I married a guy 6’2”, so all my children tower over me as well. When we would go anywhere, my legs would work twice as fast as theirs. So, you can say I was “in training” many years before I started working for this one job.

I noticed one day that 2 of the engineers walked every day at lunch. One day I asked one of them if I could walk with them. I could tell by his face that he really wanted to say NO but didn’t know how. He said yes and had to break the news to the other tall engineer. lol When we got to the track, they told me to set the pace. Their expectations were low.

This is me and one of my walking buddies:

Well, because they expected me to hold them up, I was determined to prove them wrong. I took off and by the end, they asked me to slow down because they were having a hard time keeping up. I knew what I was capable of AND I also knew that I had an age advantage.

I write this to those of you who have family members or friends who look at you like you’re crazy for doing this. They don’t see your potential AND they don’t understand that WA offers excellent training and support. They have very low expectations. You CAN prove them wrong.

YOU know what is possible and what you’re capable of. Keep these in mind and, YOU CAN do this. Your mindset is one of your most important assets. Whether you think you CAN or you think you CAN’T, you’re right!

Stay focused, be prepared (train/practice) and above all, STAY POSITIVE.

I love the photo, thank you for sharing.

You're welcome.

I’m 5’1 and I walk very quickly.
Great post thank you very much for sharing

Unfortunately I have slowed down with age.

Say it isn't so, Debbi! (For some reason, I move faster after a hearty bowl of fried rice!)

Of course you do, smart alec!!!!!!! lol

😎😳🙄🤪😉

Ah, Debbi! The worry about the fried rice becomes clear! 😳

LOL! Thank you!!!!! lol

Still, you could have a small order of it!😂

STOP IT!!! 😂

Who, MEEE? 😳

I was at a supermarket and a short elderly lady could not reach a shelf so I reached up and handed the item to her.
She said I am too short.
I said, how do you do I am Tom Short.

Tom Short.

LOL. Cute. I do that a lot. I miss shopping with my kids although I have been known to climb shelves or into a freezer.

Keep up the assistance!

I'm with you Debbi...anything can be accomplished and no matter what it is our own attitude that determines the level of our success! I never talk to anyone about WA...they do not get it...I celebrate my Victories alone but with the greater good!

Yes, through the years I've seen many people not supported in the WA quest. You always have US to celebrate with though, Barb!
