75 Reasons I Quit WA

As many of you already know, I come and go from WA because I’m retired and let’s face it – I get sidetracked. Well, this week was no exception.

This virus has really changed our lives. Many people who have never had the opportunity to telework are doing so now. Store parking lots are empty, schools are closed (much to the dismay of many parents) and restaurants are drive through or carry out only. However, hospitals can NOT close. Doctors, nurses and EMT personnel are seeing people every day and could be exposed.

SO, I and a group of other ladies have been making masks. They’re NOT what I would have chosen but it’s what our hospital requested so if they’re happy, so am I. This is what 75 masks look like.

I chose pretty fabric because I wanted them to be cheerful and maybe bring a little joy to the wearer. I delivered them this morning.

Of course, driving down I-95, there was an accident and all 3 lanes of traffic were stopped. The alternate route wasn’t much better. The joy of living in VA (not).

I’m now back at WA. My 75 reasons are gone. I spent the majority of my time the last couple days doing these masks. While the masks will be helpful to medical staff, there is a benefit to me personally as well. It made me use my limited WA time more efficiently. I didn’t realize how much of my time was wasted getting sidetracked on the computer when I actually sat down to work WA.

Pay attention to this. It happens without even thinking. Something grabs our attention and when we look up -- an hour has passed and it was NOT a productive one. Don’t let this happen to you. There’s only 24 hrs in a day – make them count!

One last thing -- DO NOT EVER QUIT!!! WA is the best!

Stay safe. Good things will come from it on the other side. You may have your own revelation!

Hi Debbi,

You have done a great service to mankind by making those masks. Hats off to you.

Regarding Staying put with WA, yes as every day passes my days are more productive. It is hard and persistent work, but I will never quit.

Thank you for the reiterating post.

To your success.

You're very welcome.

what a title - your title drew me in and captured my attention- there's a lesson here in "crafting" creative titles. Kudos

“Everyone needs to analyze and understand what makes them tick, like taking a clock apart to discover how it works. Self-knowledge will help you to understand what you have to offer that’s special.”
― Rod Judkins, The Art of Creative Thinking

While I AM a crafter, I'm not normally good at crafting titles. Thank you for being drawn in though.

Those masks are so creative, Debbi, and such a kind gesture on the part of you and your friends. It is times like this that can bring out the best in us.

I am sure that they will be much appreciated.

Some very good advice as well it is easy to get sidetracked at normal times, at the moment there is a sidetracker around every corner.

Thank you, Sandra. I'm not sure what colors anyone else picked but I liked the bright colors.

Stay safe.

Those 75 reasons to quit for a while Debbi were a very good 75 reasons. I think the masks look very nice and I am sure that the hospital will be very grateful to you and the other women who made them with you.

You are right though, it is so easy to get sidetracked here at WA and the hours just fly in without you even realising it. Don't ever quit though as this is the best place to be.

You stay safe too Debbi.

I will always be here.

I made 75 but I'm sure with all the ladies working, MANY were made to add to my pile.

They will be very much needed as well. You are a star Debbi. xxx

Wow!! good looking cheerful masks can't tell you how much better looking than the ones I see all around me. Good on you for actually doing something constructive and of service to others instead of moaning..only I suspect you have done that all along as a good heart and kind soul doesn;t just spring up....more grease to your elbows!! ;
R.

Well, the way I look at it, whining and moaning serves no purpose so "suck it up, buttercup and move on" has been my motto for many years. I know that can sound harsh but it's more productive.

So, colors make me happy and I was hoping it would do the same for those working so hard on the front lines. They are the real heros in all this.

LOL. I guess I should officially follow you since we seem to be on the same thread a lot.
