but I am getting too many spam e-mails which is a waste of time to delete.
Should I just remove my e-mail from the we

Thanks to all for your suggestions and comments! :)

Marion's approach works best. If you don't engage the problem you don't need an app or plugin!

I like Marion's simple approach. But you have to get crafty, because the automated apps that crawl the web for emails don't have to be too clever to figure out they should also harvest anything that contains (at) (dot) (com).

Find another way to spell out your email without providing it to the letter.

This is taking me back, but in the early noughties, when I was still bothering to code, I used to have a special link for the spam spiders, that would take them into an oubliette that generated endless email addresses. I don't think anyone does that anymore.

I don't know if you have the Akismet plugin as well to support.

Akismet is not needed and should not be installed on WA-hosted sites. Anti-spam protection is now done at the server level,

So is Kyle's lesson needing an update because I am just learning it from his tutorials.

Yes, there's an update needed to the training. (Part of the problem is that Akismet was used for many years here at WA and has references in much of the training.)

Thanks Bob let me throw it away.

You can't eradicate them, unfortunately ;-(

People, will, "suggest" on your site! It's free advertising for them!
I have no problem telling them to get off and stay, away! Delete their message and send them a personal. how dare, you! public or private! It's spam! ..and, how do others see you, on your site!!
each, one immediately, or, your message will become the site!

Erase, and growl!!

I don't have my email address on my website because of all the spam emails it attracts. Instead, like a lot of big name bloggers, I use the format marion[at]marionblackonline.com and that seems to work.

Hi Marion, thanks for your response to my question.
Does that mean you use that same e-mail address for all your websites?
Even if I display a different e-mail address e.g. info@suetay.com, it would still attract spam, wouldn't it?

I use the same format for all my email addresses on my websites.

It's the '@' symbol that the robots search for so they can scrape email addresses off the internet. Using [at] instead of @ means the robots don't find it but people know what email addresses are supposed to look like.

Thank you for the clarification, Marion.
I get what you mean now. :)

Hi WA friends,

I need your advice about what would be the best course of action for me to take.

I have an existing website (I think it's about 1 year old) which I

Good morning Sue
From an SEO point of view I would definitely keep all of the content and the domain name as both of those will have built up some traction over the last year.
From a technical viewpoint, I'd suggest you contact support for their input, for the definitive answer to your questions and to rely on them to get it right for you.
As for themes, you might be interested in the sort of thing suggested here.....

https://themeforest.net/item/medical-clinic-health-doctor-medical-wordpress-theme/18277620

Disclaimer:- This is not an affiliate link, I have no relationship with the company linked to and no benefit would be derived by clicking the link.....it is simply placed here as an example.

Transferring the site to WA means you will be able to convert your URL to https for free as well which is something you should consider doing.

Good stuff Sue, hope your 90 plan is going well for you.

Mark

Hey, Mark, thanks much for your valued comments.
Yes, I agree with what you have advised and was leaning towards keeping the original website.
I am now on Course 2 Lesson 2.
I started off well but have had a few days of not being able to do any of the lessons at all. It's been good to redo the training as there are some new stuff in there and it's a good refresher.
Hope you are going well? Please feel free to reach out to me whenever you feel there's a need.

Hi Sue, yes you're right, Kyle has updated a fair amount quite recently so it's absolutely right up to date stuff.
Mark

I'm interested in the answer to these questions. I am considering the same options in getting a site out of the clutches of Name cheap!

Oh, OK. :)
Hope we will get some good answers from here later.
Otherwise, please feel free to copy and paste my question and ask again.
Maybe you will get more responses.

This is what appears when I searched in Google for my post:
The category of the post is 90-Day Challenge.

90-Day Challenge Archives - Online Entrepreneur @ Wealthy Af

I guess you must have sorted the problem as everything looks fine now, Sue

Your URL appears with #.WZvh51EjH4Y at the end, when I click it, I have never seen that before, any idea where that number comes from?

Hi Loes, thanks for taking a look.
It's a problem I've been having with the AddThis plugin. I deactivated it and those string of letters and numbers are gone.
Should I change my social media plug in? Any suggestions?

I use Social Media Feather, and I like it a lot.
I don't know the addthis plugin, is that a regular social media share and follow button plugin, or has it more features, like auto-share and sign-up forms?

Yes, AddThis does have some additional features besides the sharing buttons.
I decided to switch to the SumoMe plug in since I have used it before in another site.

That's a good choice, Social Media Feather only supports share and follow buttons

I have looked at your link and can't see the word "archives" anywhere, looks like you have sorted it.
Matthew

Hi Matthew, it's still not resolved, but now I can see another listing without the "Archives"
See attached when I did Google search for "90-Day Internet Challenge".

That's strange!

I received the following e-mail in my website Atmail inbox on 29 Dec.

I'm not sure if it's true of not and dare not click on the links in case of virus attachments.
<

Spam - pretty sure on that one....Bob nailed this one! : )

Thank you so much, Bob.:)
It's a relief to know as it's New Year's Eve and having my site suspended permanently would have been a major catastrophy!

Sue, If your domain is registered here at WA.
I would forward a copy of this email to support.
Do not download anything. I do not believe the
phone number is real.

Thanks so much for your advice, Ken.
I think it's spam alright.
I sent a reply to the sender but the e-mail was undeliverable!

Sue, always ask when you are not sure.
Rule of thumb, never open an email that
you did not request.
Have a safe and prosperous 2017.

Hello my WA friends,

I have been pondering over this for over a year now, since I first joined WA.

In case you missed it, I also asked about this in my blog post

You can create as many pages as you like from your personal account. This allows you to control and manage everything from one account. This makes life much easier :)

Thanks Jay. :)
I will like your Fb Page after I set up my Fb new account.
PS: I haven't forgotten my offer to support you on your social media.

A personal account as a controlling account, and then multiple fan pages each for specific niche or site.

One thing that others do that you should avoid is, most people use their fan pages as a blog post sharing pages, or extension of their blogs. No, don't do that. Facebook hides links shared on their platform, unless aided with paid advertising. As you can see in the number of reach, native photos and videos have higher reach (numbers) than links shared.

That's my observation.

What my plan to do now is to refrain from posting links, unless the link is boosted (with paid ad). What works better is, post native videos, or if you can't have videos, at least native photos, with URL of your blog printed on the bottom of the photos.

Thanks for the tip, Gomer.
That does sound like it's a more tedious way of sharing but I will make some observations by trying both. :)

I always create a page using my personal account. You have more control over the page and you don't have to go through the problem of having multiple FB accounts to log into..

Thanks Beau.
So am I correct to say that to promote WA affiliate program you'd use a page rather than a personal account?
I am using a Page at the moment, but calling it Sue Tay, although my WA website name is "bestwealthyaffiliate", I decided to avoid calling my page by that name.
But I named my other Fb page A Chemical Peel following my website name "achemicalpeel" although it's generic sounding.

Yes, a page is the best option.. A personal account can manage many pages.. its best move in terms of simplicity and efficiency
