You can test your current theme to see if you like it first. I would write down the extras I need to install, in case I want to change it in the future, I'd know which ones I should deactivate.
You may like to use the GeneratePress instead which is popular among the WA community and focuses on speed and usability. Extremely light, SEO optimized.
In general yes the more plugins you have the slower site can become.
Is you site speed switched to extreme?
i seen site rubbix as an option when getting my domain, but i ended up buying a .com. will this cause an issue or is this ok?
May I amend please. I think what you mean is siterubix.com. With resources you can choose the
WA Free website .siterubix.com or buy one from WA and the web will be sublime.com. When you buy from WA everything will be installed and set up for you. You will receive the web ready to use.
Looks like you have received may replies already. Glad you bought a .com. That is great.
One thing I do with .sitrubix sites is use them to build and get ideas and my design like I want it. Then I ask Site Support to COPY (NOT MOVE) my siterubix site to my .com. That is just an option and you are not required to do that. It is just an idea.
We wish you much success as you move forward.
Thank you all. That took a load off my mind because I didn't see any reason not to get a .com, but I also wasn't sure. I wasn't sure if I missed something, and if given a choice id rather have a .com.
Awesomeness throughout.
You are so very welcome. Any other help you need, do let us know.
It's great, however a .com is better.
Main advantage is that you own you .com domain vs siterubix subdomain remains the property of WA.

i had to take a reak after i made my first domain. now im having trouble getting back to where i choose a theme for the website. where do i go to pick back up where i left off?
i think you can first try with one of the default theme. After having previews, decide which available default theme. There is a lot of training inside WA. go step by step. There is a learning curve to flatten
