Surround Yourself With Great People And Great Things Happen

TGIF and it was a week.

During my professional career, I have always tried to surround myself with great people. The atmosphere and people may not have been great when we started, but over time we became great with a combination of hard work and dedication.

The past couple weeks, I have been deeply involved with interviewing and hiring personnel for our facility in South Carolina during my 9 to 5 job. We recently moved 90 miles inland so we are dealing with manning issues caused by our relocation and new business growth.
  • On a positive note, numerous interviewees want a chance to learn and become part of something great. We have hired a couple of these individuals and I am excited to start molding them into the team. I hope we meet each other's expectations.
  • On a negative note, we offered a couple interviewees jobs that were accepted but they did not show up for work. This always bothers me because I am unclear what was missed during the interview. I guess this is best for all parties.

We are a work in progress and I believe in time we will accomplish great things as a company but it will take hard work and dedication.

I have only been with WA for a couple months and I am continually impressed with the hard work and dedication I see from WA members individually and with each other.

It is refreshing to see that WA does not promote a condition I call Pyramid Power which is prevalent in many organizations and/or memberships.

  • Pyramid Power is where few people at the top of the pyramid maintain power and knowledge at the top instead of sharing freely upward and downward.

At WA, I am surrounded by great people and I am certain great things will happen. For me, great things may not happen today, tomorrow, next week, or in the next month but I know great things will happen in the future.

Until I meet my goals, I do have the pleasure of being involved with a great team that cares for each other, works hard for each other, and is dedicated for each other. For this reason I say thanks to everyone at WA.

What is your timeframe to make great things happen for yourself?

Isn't it great being Fifty Plus Going On Fifteen?

Wishing you a safe, healthy and successful day.

True J...it does take a village! And we all learn great stuff from those who've succeeded before us, if we choose to look, listen, and learn, we can save ourselves a whole lotta trouble they may have run into.

I like to learn from others mistakes so I can minimize mine and maybe even pass that on to another path traveler.

No one gets there by stepping on the shoulders of everyone else.

"Give others the hand up you're looking for!" Is my motto

Get a much deserved rest this weekend...and think of how great it is to be here and alive on WA at this point in time.

Kyle and Carson have paved an amazing trail for us,eh? I'm soo glad we can take part in that!! Such a blessing for us newbies!!

~E :)

Good morning E and yes WA is an incredible environment that as paved by Kyle and Carson but has many roadside attractions built by WA members.

It is great to have the tools, the mentoring, the friendships and being able to learn from mistakes and history. Thanks, Jay

Good Morning Jay,

WA is a great family and I am happy to be part of it knowing that, while I stumble along the way, there will be people who will help me.

Have a great weekend, 60+ going on 16

Thanks and great to hear from you. I hope all is well on your end and wish we could get together for teenage antics. Jay Fifty Plus Going On Fifteen

Ok, Jay, do I have to ask my better half for permission for those teenage antics?

Have a great weekend, Taetske

Of course, he can take part in borrowing the school's mascot prior to homecoming. Nothing like causing a little mischief. Jay

Many years ago when I was active in network marketing. One of the teaching we had and I still find it valid today is "five years form now, the only different you have is the book you read and the people you meet"

Wow... I love that single line. "five years from now, the only difference you have is the books you read and the people you meet". That is it in a nutshell. Jay

Friends and companions make a big difference Jay. Here and in any business!

So true. A combined journey with similar goals. Jay

Powerful messages here Jay...Lots of implications as well on how to most effectively set up and operate your business.

The business climate and norms start at the top I think, the leader really does set the tone for all levels of the operation...

If you look at some of the most successful companies these days, the norms have changed, as has the makeup of who works in these places...

I have had the good fortune to have been in some really great organizations and also the misfortune to have been a part of some less than stellar operations hehe.

I can say from all this is that in my mind EQ is as important if not more so than IQ. If you know how to influence people to get things done using a humane and open approach, you can take that organization to the sky.

Best of luck as you grow the company you are now involved in, and I am sure that we will all learn as you share your experiences here with the rest of us!

As to your question at the end of your post: I have and will continue to make great things happen and help those around me do so as well...If they make more greatness than I am able to, all the better!

Cheers!
Dave : )

Dave, Very well said and thanks. Life and business is a team sport and you win or lose together. It should not matter whose idea it was or who was the first across the line as long as you are aligned and working together. Best of weekends. Jay

Dave, One last thing though, competition is always good for the juices. Jay

Agreed...Complacency destroys things... : )

Very true. Your association with certain types of people could define your character.

Yes in a positive and negative way. I am thankful I left for the navy at the age of 17 or I my life would have been much different in a bad way. Thanks, Jay

Team work will always win over A champion any day.

Very true and thanks. Jay

Great blog. I appreciate your transparency and the reminder that is not a sprint . . . it's a journey!

Agree. You need to have goals but they must be achievable. Have a great weekend. Jay

Great blog Jay. I appreciate your faith and belief in WA. It mirrors my feelings as well.

Hi there and great to hear from you. It is faith in WA and the community. It feels like I am part of something big but we are not numbers. Funny I say that when there are rankings right. Have a great night and clear weather is heading your way from Missouri. Jay

Well said, Jay.

I am anxiously awaiting the clear weather. Damp and dreary doesn't do it for me...lol!!

T

Totally agree! Thanks for this.

Gail, Thanks and I was amazed when I saw your post tonight. WA is pretty incredible and addictive. Have a great weekend but I am sure I will see you around. Jay
