Learn Something New Everyday

We have a young dog that is about 17 months old that continues to learn, mature and evolve. Yes, she has us wrapped around her paw much like our elderly Jack Russells but continues to change.

I have gone through life with a desire to learn, learn, learn since it is quite obvious that one of the keys to success is knowledge.

I do not believe the old adage of "You Can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks" because i have had too many elderly dogs that learned from birth to death. Furthermore, I am an old dog and do everything possible to learn something everyday.

I have learned much this week in my 9 to 5 job, at home, with friends/family, and here on WA so I am sticking my tongue out at that old adage.

This weekend, it is my goal to deep dive into WA training since I have been sidetracked with the 9 to 5 job the last 8 weeks. I may learn 20 things and forget 10 on WA this weekend so my net gain is still 10 which is not bad.

What are some of the key things I learned this week?

  • Always verify items that appear to be to good to be true even though the corporate names appear accurate. Was almost scammed. (Home)
  • Adjust and simplify if you are not achieving desired levels when interviewing for new employees. Was not getting the interview results expected. (9 to 5 job)
  • Trust in your kids to take your advice even though they said it would not work. Both son and daughter made me proud on decisions they made as young adults. (Friends/Family)
  • I need to take a step back and utilize skills that have been shared on my website to optimize and gain traffic. Has been shared by countless members. (WA)

So in closing, no pictures, no lightning strikes of knowledge, no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but some pure common sense to continue to learn, learn, learn.

So, what have you learned that is noteworthy this week?

Its great to be fifty plus going on fifteen right.

Wishing you a healthy, safe and successful day.

Hi Jay, great post. What have I learned this week? Not to suck on a ball point pen while writing notes in bed in the dark. I woke up the next morning with more ink on my face than was on the paper!

Too funny...but entertaining graphics!

It made me laugh too...but there again, I did look like a demented clown :)

What do I say? Thanks and TGIF. Thanks for the share and the wise lesson on proper pen utilization. Good thing it was not a gel pen. Jay

Cheers Jay, maybe I'll go for the gel pen look next time. Enjoy your weekend

I walked in the house after a long day at work, and I overheard my daughter talking on the phone to her friend. "Don't talk about what you have done or will do. Do it, and let it speak for itself."

I can not describe the feeling of hearing your own words come out of your child's mouth... just when you thought they never listened!

Wise girl.

And it happens more and more as they age. it is a great feeling and thanks for your share. Special moments make great memories. Jay

Hi Jay! Geez...what did I learn this week? I have to think about that one.

First off, I learned that no matter how good I have been soing, I have chronic migraine and the headaches will still take me down for days even though I am doing what I need to be doing. So, headaches are going to be unavoidable. (Home)

Secondly, I have learned that my writing style leans more to the creative style and sentence structure and that I need to write smaller sentences if I am going to hold my adience's attention. (WA)

I have also learned that, despite my best hopes, my two children with mental illnesses (one with Bipolar Disorder proper and the other with Bipolar Depression Only) are very much alike and both will be hard to deal with. They just want everything to be done for them in the way they want it done. They weren't raised to act entitled, but the peer pressure to act entitle like all the other millennial brats running around out there has gotten to them. (Home) Sorry about the rant.

I have also learned that I feel better about myself when I am able to be up, going through the courses and building my website, than I do when I just lie in bed and block everything out. (General)

I'm sure there is more to learn and today I will be concentrating on applying feedback on my website and adding images, so I'm sure I will learn a lot today.

I also had some big accomplishments this week. I got ranked on Google and my rank here at Wealthy Affiliate has gone up quite considerably (form in the 8,00S to 354th! I'm quite proud of that, even if I'm not altogether sure how I did it. LOL

Have a great weekend Jay!!!

Thanks for sharing and one of the biggest things I have had to learn is that I cannot fix everything and I am sometimes powerless to fix anything. Glass half full, glass half empty, or glass has a hole in it are the options. Great accomplishment on google and try to have a great weekend. jay

You do the same!

I've learned patience....I needed a lot of that this week!

Patience is probably one of the hardest things to learn. Thanks for your share and I am patient but not patient enough at times. Jay

I have learned to always be positive.

Yes, we must fight the negative and that can be difficult. Jay

Hi Jay and the biggest thing that I have learned is to SLOW down as I always wanted to do things quickly but its was always three steps forward and two back!!!

Paul

I learned I can use the new Site Content images even if I don't write my posts in Site Content!!! Yayyyy! I just wrote a new post and used an image from Site Content for the first time. I didn't think we could use the images if we didn't write the post there but I did!

That is a great gain of knowledge. You can't fail if you don't try. Try and try again. Jay

This really opens up a whole new world for all of us at WA.

I've learned that by being patient, that good comes my way...without a fight.

Just biding my time till I can climb back in the saddle and give it a new energy, once this storm passes over. Learning some valuable lessons here too.

I love to learn here too...nice to make a game of it against yourself. Sharpening skills.

Great post J! Always enjoy reading your thoughts...

~E :)

E, Thanks for the share and sometimes your biggest competition is yourself. have a great night. Jay

Jay, you have learned more in a week than most people do in a month or more!

I like to learn as well. I feel like if I don't learn something on a daily basis, I have missed something.

I am so glad that you did not walk into a scam. Don't you just abhor those kinds of people!?!? They should be locked away and the key lost forever!!

T

Yes... terrible people but there is karma right. Hope you are doing well. TGIF... Jay

There is always Karma.

I am well, thank you. I am assuming that you are doing well and Renee has completely recovered!!

YES...TGIF!!!

T

We are just ending soft food and low residue from now on. she goes back in for scope early january so a couple more months. Me, I learned about shingles since i returned home. thanks for asking and great to hear from you. Jay

If you had the shingles, I am soooo sorry for you. Those are horrible. Vinegar baths work wonders.

Keep me informed of Renee's progress. Hoping that she is well soon!!

Have a great weekend!!

T

That should be our mission to build ourselves and the community!

Agree... every day, all day. Thanks Jay
