Cloud 9 Ranch Sanity Reset Complete

Arrived back in Missouri late Thursday night and took off for a weekend of camping at Cloud 9 with the family. The 2.5-hour trip to camp is well worth it.

The trip to Cloud 9 was uneventful but did include a quick stop at Casey’s to allow the fur babies to check out the grass, trees, etc. We grabbed a cup of coffee that is so good at Casey’s.

Once we arrived at camp, we set up the camper, unloaded the ATV and UTV, and walked the dogs so they could make certain nothing has changed.

It is almost winter in Missouri, so the campground and trails were empty even though the temperature was in the fifties. We will be returning for New Years so today was a rest and relaxation (R & R) weekend.

Where Is Everyone?

We drove trails, made a few stream crossings, climbed a few hills and took the boys for a ride down to Wilder Springs.

At Wilder Springs, Scrappy pushed Buddy into the stream so I had a wet dog on my lap when we traveled back to camp. Nothing like brotherly love I guess.

There is a burning ban this weekend, so we were unable to have a campfire so my bride of thirty plus years and daughter of twenty-eight years are discussing a pending marriage.

Roxy, my 90 pound plus medium size mix is sleeping next to me since she is making the most out of our trip to Cloud 9 and I believe I will do the same in a few minutes.

There is no reliable connectivity at Cloud 9 Ranch which puts me a little further behind for WA but is a much-needed sanity reset.

I sure hope you had a great weekend and wishing you health, safety, and success. It is great being fifty plus going on fifteen.

Good Afternoon Jay,

I can see the whole family is knocked out, nice story.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Taetske, thanks and I barely made it through the Golden Knights game. Jay

Well done.

Trevor, it was a ball. Jay

Nice, I envy you as I used to go camping with my dad. We loved the nature and the people we crossed paths with.
Your dogs look spent, what did you look like?
Cheers, Jae

Jae, I was wiped out also. Between traveling, etc... I was ready to sleep. Jay

Good thing you mentioned the camp out. It looked someone shouted "dead bug."

John, they were tuckered out. Jay

The beach. About an hour from here. Can't go there now though, the fire that is ravaging just north of my favorite spot is still raging and the skies are filled with another kind of smoke...not campfire smoke.

Your pups look relaxed and so content. I love the name...Cloud 9 Ranch. Sounds delightful.

All the best,
Sue

Sue, C9R has been a blessing and is a well-kept secret. I am a beach bum also but about a 12-hour drive to the gulf. Don't sniff too much of that smoke and be safe. Jay

The east coast has been calling me for some time, so some day we'll have to head out in that direction. As for the smoke, other than leaving a layer of gunk on our car, we haven't had much smoke smell to deal with...the only good part of the crazy winds we've been having. Thanks Jay.

All the best,
Sue

Fun post. Makes me think my decision to adopt a new dog is timely. It's been about two months since Cooper passed away. I was going to wait until Spring to find another fur buddy, but I am such a dog person, I don't think I can go much longer without one in my life.

Anyway, I love that last photo of Roxy, Scrappy, and Buddy pssed out next to each other. Had to laugh.

Hal, it is tough when we say good-bye. When we lost Buster, we waited 5 plus years before we found Roxy and what a find. I wish you luck in finding a new companion and I am sure that although he/she will have different traits, he/she will nudge a place into your heart that will always be there. Jay

Sometimes you don't want to come down from cloud 9

Mike, will return for New Years. Jay

We like to travel about an hour from here into the Shenandoah Valley. We arrive early afternoon and check out what is ging on in town. We have an early dinner and then we go to the drive-in theater.

We show up early so we are sure to get a spot. We listen to the music through the speakers, set up our chairs and relax. When t is just starting to get dark we go get out popcorn and drinks. Then we enjoy the double feature. When it's over we go to the hotel and call it a night.

After we check out the next morning, we take out time getting home. taking the back roads through the mountains and stopping for barbeque and some Virginia wine and cider to take home with us. We have gotten some really good sausage, bacon, and pancetta from the farms out there.

Other times, we have stayed in town a while for a local festival. In the Spring and Fall, we have to get straight back to our area because of my son's baseball games. We still enjoy the break.

I'm glad you had a chance to get away. I'm sure you needed after your last week. We finished our Christmas shopping and just enjoyed each other's company. My husband and younger son got my husband's train (around the tree) working again. What they thought was a problem with the transformer ended up being a loose wire on the track.

As for me, I kept up with my email and managed to become an Ambassador this weekend. A good weekend for all!

Anita

Anita, We have a drive in about 20 minutes from our home and enjoy watching movies on the outdoor big screen. It is a small drive in so you need to arrive at least 2 hours before dusk. They play the national anthem, have a playground under the screen, and the popcorn, etc. is not expensive.

It is great that you have solid ways to relax also. Thanks for sharing. Jay

They do the same thing at the one we go to. At one time they had a stage and had bands that come out to play. Now there is the playground. We try to be there around 6:30 pm or 7:00 pm in the summer, so about2 hours before the movie starts. Any later and I don't think we would get in.

When we really really want to get away, we go stay out at my dad's. He has Wifi and satellite television, but no wireless service on most of his property. We stay anywhere from 3 or 4 night to a week. He is 5 hours from here.

Anita, it is great to have an escape or two. It is great to disconnect sometimes. Jay

I like to watch your activity in a video.

Jimmy,

I am actually working on that from past trips. Need to get my feet back on the ground from traveling. Jay

That's good as if I am with when I watch it because we know each other here so I can say I know an artist, an actor starring and your dogs are your co-stars.

Thanks again. Jay

Really positive reset there!

Lee, we all need to reset. I prefer to beat myself up on trails. Jay
