2018 Goals - One Goal At A Time

It is hard to believe 2017 is coming to an end and I still accidentally write 2016 so maybe this is a good thing.

I believe you can only have three (3) to five (5) goals max at any time if you want to accomplish them so thought I would share one with you tonight.

I mention my bride of thirty (30) plus years quite often because I am lucky she puts up with me for all my shortcomings.

  • My bride's name is Renee and she has followed me from North Dakota to California to Connecticut to Georgia to Virginia to South Dakota to Iowa and finally to Missouri during our marriage.

In September of this year, we had a big scare and Renee was hospitalized for about a week. During this week. Renee decided she wanted to start a side business for paracord products and selling them at flea markets and online.

  • Being the supportive groom that I am, I said "sure, you need a hobby so why not make some money at it".

I believe there is a saying that goes like "be careful of what you wish for because you may get it" and I believe I a living that now.

Since Renee was discharged from the hospital, she has been a paracord demon who has made:

  • Dog leashes and collars.
  • Cat leashes and collars.
  • Bracelets.
  • Ribbons for Breast Cancer, Thin Blue Line, POWs, etc.
  • Lanyards.
  • Keyrings.
  • Misc items.

So we now have boxes of paracord products and she has started selling at local antique stores and flea markets.

Here are a couple examples of her handiwork...

  • can you guess what characters these are?

So, in a roundabout way, this takes me to one of my primary goals for early 2018.

I travel for work so Renee has asked me to build a website for her multiple times over the past three (3) months. I have purchased the .com website, I have filled out state business license and tax paperwork, I have developed a logo, but I have not built a website yet.

So, one of my first goals for 2018 is to build a website for my bride of thirty (30) plus years. Tied to this goal is figuring out how to manufacture medical alert tags for collars.

  • Do you have critical goals you need to achieve in early 2018? What are they?
  • Do you know anyone that manufactures medical alert tags for collars?

As we prepare for 2018, I would like to wish you health, safety, and success. It sure can be challenging getting everything done when you are fifty plus going on fifteen.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years,

Jay Patterson

Get that site done, looks like she has some great products.
Thank you for sharing.

James, I am hot on it. Jay

They are great and seriously you would be in so much trouble if I were your wife right now. Get to it and build her a website.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Karen, you are correct and thanks for the kind comments. Started working on reference material for the website at 7 this AM. Jay

Wow Jay & Renee, are they representing the turtles? Jolly nice.
Get on with it Jay, website for Renee yeah!
Cheers both of you,
Jae

Jae, it is on the list but has moved up a few notches. Thanks for the kind comments. Jay

Good luck and hard work will get your website running. All the best.
Alex

Alex, Thanks for your best wishes. Jay

"Since Renee was discharged from the hospital, she has been a paracord demon..." That made me laugh Jay.
Your wife's handiwork is amazing. You need to get that website up and running ASAP.
Love the "bride" and "groom" reference. Says a lot.

All the best to you and yours! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Q&A 1. I will be writing at least two books next year.

David

David... What an awesome goal of 2 books. When I get around to doing Jay stuff, it is my goal to write e-books.

Thanks for your kind words. Wishing you a great new year. Jay

Thanks for sharing this Jay. Sounds like you'll have your hands full in 2018 which is great. Love your wife's handiwork and I wish you and her all the best for the coming year. :)

Gail, Thanks and the feeling is mutual. 2018 appears to be an exciting year. Jay

I'm sorry to hear that your wife had a health scare.

It sounds like you are on your way to your goal. That's good to see. I'm sure your wife feels just as lucky having such a supportive husband.

I don't know who makes tags for collars, but I have a couple of ideas. You could either check with your veterinarian or find an engraving store nearby who might be willing to make them. If you don't have one near you, try a trophy store. They do a lot of engraving and may be willing to do it for you.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Anita

Anita, thanks for certain and we have hit up jewelry and trophy stores and they want an arm and a leg so I am researching engraving machines and alternate options. Merry Christmas to you and yours also. Jay

You must be proud Jay. She's going out there and bringing in a freshly conquered niche!

Mike, I am for certain. Jay

Hi Jay. My goal is to have my new website nutrientcures.com up and making money in 6 months. I would prefer that to be 3 months but we will see if things slow down at work so I can spend time on it!

Those are really neat! Renee is talented! I hope she gets a great business going!

Obviously they are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ;)

Jessica

Jessica, thanks... she had a hit last night on Facebook for dog collars with med alerts so I was busy putting together items that should have been done already.

Great goal of yours and I am working on a couple new websites and the editorial website I already have for my sanity.

Merry Christmas to you and yours. Jay

I love your posts, Jay! I'm still laughing at the first line and can so relate to it! Haha!

What awesome products your wife makes! She's very creative! Ninja Turtles, right?! It's a wonderful hobby, too, that looks like it's heading into a whole new career! Get that web site done for her and she will be on her way!

My Dad used to wear a medical alert bracelet for his allergy to penicillin. However, I don't know anyone who manufactures them.

My main goal is very similar to yours, only I am creating a site for my daughter to help her with finances. I am taking her ideas and running with them! (Just like us to pay it forward to our family!)

Take care and see you around again!

BTW, I'm 50+ going on 15, too!

Erin,

I hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for the kind words.

Yes, I have my marching orders so fitting it in among other things,

The family is what we have so we better be there for them since they are there for us.

Will talk soon and Merry Christmas. Jay
