The gift and the curse

Hi guys!

Been making some really good progress on my site, and I wanted to start out by saying that I truly appreciate each and every one of you that has reached out to me in some way. Whether that be advice, constructive criticism, kind words, a follow, a like on a blog post, a comment, whatever.

I'm starting to realize just how great this community is. So good even, that I feel overwhelmed with all the love! If I don't get back to you, it's not because I've ignored you. Going forward, just remember that. I know that I'm not some celebrity here, but I want people to know that I care when they reach out to me. I WILL and do get back to everyone.

I also realize that I should do more checking out of other peoples pages and leaving feedback or love, which I don't feel I do enough of. I will try and be better about that. It's not all about me!

Now onto the meat of the post...

Thinking about how my mind operates has inspired me to write this. It's kind of just me rambling, so take it with a grain :)

I am a very methodical person. Everything has to be perfect. This can ultimately be a gift and a curse. The gift is, that things look great once they are done! The curse is that it takes forever to get to that point. Kyle mentioned not perfecting everything right away. I simply cannot do that. Everything has to match and everything must be grammatically correct and spelled right. If you catch an error let me KNOW! :P

I am like this in whatever I do. I used to have OCD in 4th grade. Instead of simply being organized, I would be neat. Being neat accomplishes nothing, and wastes time. The way my books were arranged, the way papers were stacked, the way objects sat. It all had to be perfect and my mind had to be convinced that it was perfect before I proceeded with something else. I would even take pictures of my work just to have as a souvenir.

Nowadays I am OCD, but in a different way. I have OCD of the mind. Everything must be arranged correctly. Even the smallest of inconsistencies, (captions not matching exactly) have to be rectified immediately. Again, I think this can be a gift and a curse. I mentioned somewhere on this site that I have bad ADD. So in addition to not getting things done quickly, I ALSO DON'T GET THINGS DONE QUICKLY! LOL, It's like a double whammy. My ADD kicks in, and then when I do actually do some work, my OCD kicks in. Then I start to really think about it and MAKE BLOG POSTS ABOUT IT! TRIPLE WHAMMY! LMAO.

I am the same way whether I make a beat, paint, draw, do graphic design, or even play a video game.

Luckily I don't really have that problem in the physical realm anymore. I tend to get organized and clean every so often after stuff gets a little messy (my room, etc.) That appeases my mind and makes me feel at ease.

So did this blog post

Thanks for reading!

Nice blog Stu, perfectionist's unite! Does kinda slow things down a bit though doesn't it?

Imperfection is an acquired skill in my book and I'm working my way though this one as well. Yipes.

Thanks for sharing - remember...your not alone out there in your thinking and your blogs are always insightful, fun and entertaining.

Press on brother!

Thanks Andy! It truly means a lot knowing there are people out there who actually read it. LOL. It's also nice to be able to just get my thoughts out and know that someone else can relate too. Often times I get a little down about something and need to get it out of my mind.

You're doing great man. I'm beginning to think I missed the "avoiding frustration" training video...ha,ha!

Thanks for sharing. You are right in that it can be a gift and a curse. But just always remember, it really is okay to not be perfect all the time. You are also human and being imperfect is part of the human condition. I wish you much success with you site.

Thank you llopez!

Thanks for thinking out loud, you are good for the community. Proceed.

Hello OG! Thank you for the comment. Lol "proceed" will do brother

Love honesty and straightforwardness! Say it as it is, I say, and people can take it or leave it, but at least they know you and/or both of you stand, right, lol. Keep up the good work/posts, and WA efforts to super success, scblack1 :) :) :)

Thanks win, sometimes you just need to let it out! :P
