Got banned from making comments

Hey everyone.

I have been in WA for less than a month and i am really enjoying it here. I have found this community to have a very positive energy and really want to help each other succeed. I think WA has been constructed in such a way that motivates you to help others in order to be helped. With all the training, the community, the live chat and help you can get, with the comments and feedback credits, the website hosting and web creation tools. Everything is looking great.

So as everyone else i made my website and slowly i am building content with the hope to be able to monetize my website in the future. As most in here i was using the feedback and comments section a lot to get credits in order to order comments for my website also. This seems to work pretty well. But there was something that i hadn't thought would happen. In the comments i was offering i was always trying to be relevant, in context and i never tried to spam or talk irrelevant subjects just to get credits. I tried to make my comments feel natural. And this seemed to work great until now.

I was giving comments to a website that out of respect i will not mention but it seems that the author wanted specific comments with specific length. This is something i could not possibly know. As a result he disapproved a lot of my comments and as a result i got banned from making further comments in general. This not only will affect the community as i cannot offer comments to others anymore but also affects me as i cannot get credits to order comments for my website also. The only way to get credits now is with feedback.

So every time someone makes a comment runs the risk of being disapproved without being at fault just because the author wants specific comments in his articles. This just revealed to me a big disadvantage of the credits function. And just a few dis approvals are enough to ban you from making any further comments at all.

How do you feel about how this system work? Did you have similar experience with the comments section? I feel really frustrated by this right now and i have no wish to work on my website today.

I can imagine your frustration. I have been disapproved twice for comments I've given and I was really pissed and like you somewhat disappointed. I gave it my all in the comments I gave. Those authors to me were frankly not a professional in their field, it seems to me they wanted a specific comment. For both comments I asked a question at the end which it seems they couldn't answer so they disapproved it.
Asides from those, I have had success. Maybe the ban is temporary so get in contact with Kyle to verify if its a temporary ban or what. In the mean while you can use this platform to give and request comments. Using this method allows for a lot more comment than using the sitecomments.

A comment is always a good comment if it is in context and relevant. If someone needs specific answers then they should ask for comments elsewhere.

Thankfully my ban was lifted after i contacted support.

You can exchange comments here: About SiteComments, I have an approval rate of 99% and I am sure that many members here have similar stats too. So, people do not reject your comments by default.

When we write a comment, we must add value to another website. If we add value, there is no reason to be rejected. There are instructions under the comments box as well.

There are alternative ways to get comments, Stratos. You can use the link above.

You can be rejected if the author asks for specific answers that you dont know of. I always read the topics i comment on and try to be relevant. Value doesnt matter if the other wants specific things.

Then, contact the support. They can check the comments and the reason why they got rejected. If it wasn't your mistake, they may give you access in SiteComments again.

If not, you will be fine with the comment thread. I have used it many times and you can get quality comments.

I contacted support and lifted my ban.

Hi Stratos,
Sorry to hear that you got banned in SiteComments, I do think that some members might be overzealous in their rejection of comments.

Someone shouldn't have to be a journalist in order to leave a comment as long as it looks like the person actually read the article and maybe there should be a pop up when someone goes to approve or disapprove with some basic guidelines.

For the benefit of those who may not know, make sure your comments relate only to the topic of the post itself.

If the post is about green apples, for example, the nature of your comment should ONLY be about green apples.

This is not to place to tell someone how the article is laid out or written. Do not discuss the website structure, colors, logo etc. those type of comments are for the SiteFeedback platform.

Also, try, if you can, ask a question about the topic to make it easier for the site owner to engage with your comment.

If you do get banned, I believe it is permanent unless you PM Kyle or Carson to ask for a reversal and they may link you out to a comment best practices tutorial.

If you feel your rejections are unfair, include the reason why in the PM

Good luck to you

I always tried to comment in context to the post. I never tried to spam or give useless comments just to get credits. I was spending a lot of my precious time to read the articles before i comment. Therefore i feel that is totally unfair when i get disapproved because the other wanted a few paragraphs long comment that i didn't even know (he told me in PM that i asked him).

People should be extra careful before they push the disapproval button. One time i made a mistake and because of internet connection problems i sent the same comment twice. In this situation i understand the reason to disapprove the second same comment i made. It was my mistake. But for the rest i feel it was completely unfair.

Yes, it appears that you did everything correctly.

Maybe there needs to be more education with regard to the types of comments that should be approved or disapproved or perhaps if someone rejects too many comments, they will need to read a tutorial or something before they can continue to use the platform as well.

There used to be lots of blogs here in WA on the topic but, some of the better ones that I remember from a couple of years back, I wasn't able to find when I searched.

The comments I made about best practices were mainly for the benefit of others who may read this thread and not know.

Good to know, there are some suggestions to follow here about being banned. Doesn't really make sense to me honestly, I agree with everything you have said and can relate to how you feel about it.

I would contact support and get an official answer if it happened to me.

Their shouldn't be a reason to reject a comment unless it is rude or vulgar.

I agree with you. But this show that the comments system is flawed as it is. If people want specific comments then the comments system should be able to provide this information to anyone that want to offer comments.

I don't have the exact answer because I have not experienced this myself.

I agree that is flawed period if you are banned from commenting.

Does not make sense to me at all, I would want to see everything in question and understand.

We pay money to be here, we have right to access everything.

I contacted the author in person and his reply was that he was looking for comments that are a few paragraphs long.

Everyone can ask anything they want for comments, i will not judge if what he asked was good or bad, but how i am supposed to know this? I tried to leave a comment relevant to the subject of the post but this was not enough for him. If he is so strict with comments he could contact the people that leave comments to his website ask next time to leave comments as he wants since there is no other way to ask for specific comments. Not to mass disapprove comments and as a result to be banned.

Hey StratosK

I have had a few comments rejected that I would have been very happy with. It turned me off from the comments site also. I was actually reading the whole article and leaving relevant comments but for whatever reason, people reject them. As such, I had to stop using the comments section just because of the time involved. Spending 10 minutes to read and leave a comment to have it rejected did not seem like a good use of my time.

There is the Comments give and take thread where people just ask each other to trade comments. There are no credits or such and it is a more one to one exchange. I use my credits for feedback and get my comments from the other thread. I have received about 40 comments using that thread and everyone has always been positive about it.

No system is perfect and WA has some flaws but it is SO MUCH better than anything else I have found out there. I am three months premium and feel like I have gotten done what would have taken me a year plus anywhere else. The comments section just isn't that important since the workaround that is right on WA is even better.

Stay focused on the bigger picture and all will go well.

Kevin

I agree with you completely. I will use the thread for comments from now on and credits only for feedback. It is not worth neither the time nor the risk of being banned.

This is strange if yo commented on anything i did long or short could only be positive
Even if comment was a negative one
I would know i needed to change something
After all you are looking at my work without emotion just like a potential visiter and buyer
I find this a silly as long as the comment is constructive and not abusive this should be ok

I agree with you. Everything not spam i would consider good. It seems that's not the case with everyone here.

Hello!
I have gotten a few disapproval's. Best thing to do would be read the reasons behind the disapproval and see if they are accurate.

You can try contacting support to try to work out getting the ban reversed.

I've got a 91% approval rate on my comments offered which I am not too happy with. Posts that I have offered what I thought were relevant, good comments got disapproved because they said they were more site relevant than post relevant.

Personally I like any comments I get and appreciate them more than other people I guess.

Good luck and stay with it!

I talked to the guy that disapproved my comments and even he admitted of being very strict because he was looking for specific comments. The point is why i have to go through all this to prove that it was not my fault to get banned?

I also like all comments i get. Only if a comment would show that it's spam i would disapprove it or if it was completely off topic. But to disapprove a comment that simple was not inside your personal guidelines that i have no clue of, this is completely unfair.

I totally agree with you. I got disapproved for very similar reasons, so now when I see those same page requesting comments, I stay away from them.
I'm sorry you have to go through this and really hope you get it worked out and back on track.

My ban was lifted but i will think twice before i offer comments through the system again.

Stratos, I am very sorry to read about your misfortune with comments. I would be very unhappy if that happened to me.
I would have read the rules about members losing their right to leave comments, but I can't remember the details. Surely you are not banned forever from commenting. I would have thought it to be for just a certain period of time.

I do hope this gets reversed. I feel it will in time.

Try to keep your focus on being positive and that will help you through this unpleasant experience.

All the best :)

.

Thank you very much for your words. I will try to keep a positive attitude towards this.

Sounds a strange one? A comment is a comment? I would assume comments to be constructive and positive, which would empower the owner of the website to make informed and positive changes in order to capitalise on feedback?

Not sure if I interpret you post correctly? Obviously, I cannot comment on the actual circumstances.

Have a great day!!

Wayne

It seems that some people don't want just comments. They want the comment to have specific topic and of specific length. Even if you give a comment in context to the author's post you can still be disapproved if your comment is not what the author wanted. Like i have to guess what exactly each one wants to answer accordingly. That's a big flaw of this system.

That doesn’t sound very realistic at all. It all sounds a little prefabricated, pretentious and false!

Only honest comments for my website! Definitely a flaw in the system.

Thanks for your reply Stratos.

That's why we need to be careful with the comments system. I hope with my blog i helped a few people to be saved from the frustration i went through.

I am sure you have!

Thank you!

Wayne

I have not experienced that yet but that is very interesting information that I have to be cautious to avoid such situation. What my bad experienced was when I could not post my blog since accordingly my blog was not original. I felt so discouraged and frustrated. Many WA members were to the rescue. They helped me.

Meaning, do not be discouraged bro as somebody would help you out to solve your issue. Everytime we experience bad things is always a new knowledge to consider. Good luck!

Thank you for the encouraging words.
