Don't Psyche Yourself Out Before You Start

And even if you do... Start anyway!

The last article I wrote took me over a week to write.

To be honest, at my best it takes me at least 2 days.

But something about this one seemed like it was going to be special. Like it was a very important one...

It remains to be seen if that is even true. After finishing it, it seems like it is probably not any more special than any other, although I am particularly fond of it, as a concept (which is a very, very simple one, btw).

I guess my point is that it took me most of that more-than-a-week I speak of to even get started. But once I started, it was as easy as any other.

From now on I will examine myself to see what is hanging me up--keeping me from starting. As it turns out, it was entirely psychosomatic.

But having gotten to the other side and looking back on it, I now know what the problem was, and even if I hadn't figured it out, I still would have gotten past the lies in my head, once I just resolved to plow on. After all, it wasn't even a real problem!

I guess the moral here is don't psyche yourself out before you even start. Which is perfect, since that is the title I gave this. See what I did there??

JUST START.

Cheers, friends!

We should never let the search for perfection hold us back Craig, at the end of the day, nothing's perfect!

Get the research done, structure the article, answer the question we set out to answer as best as we can, then boom, post, and move on to the next one!

We should never waste too much time getting psyched out, then we will never start my friend!

Amen to that!

Be proud of yourself that you soldiered through it and finished the post. That's actually a very big deal, because you broke through a huge psychological barrier that now will be much easier to breach.

It's part of the learning process for sure, but what also matters is that you did it. So many people are so afraid of posting something that's wrong or incomplete that they never post at all. Then they never succeed.

So you're sharing a very important lesson here. Just do it! (even though I can't stand Nike!) Post something now (you can always change it later). But getting started is the hardest part of all, and you achieved that.

Congratulations!

Thank you, lovely lady!

Actually when I read it back to myself later it sounded like I may have just been lazy...

There are many reasons which factor in. Whatever that reason was, you triumphed over it!

Haha! You're like sunshine. Unless you've been being cheeky...
Either way is great, really.

Very wise words, Craig!

Thanks, Buddy.

You're very welcome, Craig!

Good one Craig. It took me a longer than a week to really get started. More like 2 months. Nice post.

Thanks, Steve. Hope things are going smashingly. I mean that in a good way...

Thanks buddy.

Great advice, Craig! 💪

Thanks, Ivan. Cheers!
