Weekly Blogging

One of the requirements of either the SWAG-group or the GoGetters Group is to blog weekly about the progress. The same goes for those who want to rank high on Wealthy Affiliate or those that just want to show that they are an active member of WA.

What is a SWAG - What are GoGetters?

You might be wondering - what is a SWAG or what is a GoGetter?

No, SWAG is not a new type of special ops police squad and GoGetters are not the ball-retrieving boys in a game of Tennis.

SWAG
Kyle started this month a special team of selected WA members to be part of a project called the Super Wealthy Affiliate Group (SWAG). The people in training learn how to be successful within the Affiliate Bootcamp and get a bit more of a personal training approach. The requirements for the program are pretty high and there is a good chance that - when the program is followed to the dot - a SWAG will actually make a lot of sales this year.

GoGetters
Bo (Botipton) also started a special group for everybody else called the GoGetter's Group (GGG?). Although everyone can follow along as all training is open to everyone and globally also follows the existing training on the WA platform, only those that devote 20 hours or more of work per week on their website get personal coaching of him. The 20 hours also means that no other site can be worked on within those 20 hours.

As you might have figured by now, I joined both. I do a 20 hours per week schedule for one website (my niche site) with the GoGetters and I spend another 20-35 hours per week on the SWAG team.

Weekly Blogging Requirement

I consider weekly blogging as a difficulty. For one, I do need a lot of time to actually work on my sites. Secondary, even though I love to be active in the WA community, I feel that it is only making sense to blog about something if you actually have something new or interesting to share.

I tend to blog about new stuff I find online, about stuff that you all could make use of or about stuff that I can leverage through my Bootcamp site to gain more WA referrals. I sometimes blog about my new tutorials or try to teach you something from my own knowledge or experience.

Personal vs Business

Weekly blogging however doesn't feel like a right thing to require. Some manage to talk about something every day, but I have always my question marks placed behind the value of that information.

Although I don't mind to sometimes share something of my personal life, I try to separate business and personal life from each other - after all everything on WA gets indexed and is publicly available - let that sink in.

I will however try to do some more regular progress report blogging for the interested followers of either SWAG or GoGetters group as well as the ones generally interested in my progress in the WA - Online Marketing - Adventure.

Static Reports

The danger of reporting weekly at the same time and day, is that you will see something like the following:

"I posted 3 blogs on each site, I requested 5 comments, I sent out a mailing"

What I try to say, is that stuff easily become static and the same will be said over and over again. I rather tell you great successes when they do happen.

So you will see me blogging about major successes and the usual interesting stuff blogs the coming time, but not too regular as I have to anticipate time for them.

Monthly Instead Of Weekly Blogging

I just decided (while writing this) that I will do Monthly Blogs to report on progress. That way you will see a bit more statistics per month, such as visitor statistics, possible sales, amount of posts, other actions done for the site etc.

I will put out a January Status Report soon, to cover the statistics right before everything properly started. The next monthly report can be expected somewhere in the beginning of March.

I agree with you Steve. I think that my weekly blogs will get boring. I have used my blog to report on lessons learned that will help new students. I just got my sixth month badge and I still don't feel like an expert. I am very busy with the Super Affiliate program, BootCamp, two web sites and personal obligations. I think that a monthly report would be more appropriate.

I intend to post more!

Wayne

Good job Wayne!

I look at it as the kick in the pants I need to push myself in my business. It'll be challenging, but, like I said, that's what I need. If I find out that 3 per week is too much, something will have to give. Till then, I"m fine with it.
But then i'm not nearly as progressed in my business as you are.

hehe 3 can be much, but it works out just about right now. It could change anytime again. Right now 3 for each site at least.

3 per week per site is a lot if you have more than 1 site. I don't think I could do it. My niche site is being neglected for now while I do the SWAG training. There's too much to do besides the posts for me to keep 2 sites caught up. I hope you can do it!
Best of luck!

Hey Steven,

Wow, you're part of both groups? That's impressive. Just being part of one is challenging enough for me. :)

Thanks for the summary about the two groups. I think it will especially benefit some new people who may not know what they're all about when they see the terms SWAG and GoGetters all over the place.

In my opinion, blogging just to tick a box is of no value to anybody.

I always ask myself is this post really adding value before I press publish. There have been occasions where I have deleted my post.

It's fine to publish once or more a week if what you have to say adds value. Of course 'value' is also subjective so...

As for report posts, I think a monthly report on one's progress may be sufficient and I think I may do the same after reading your post.

Hi Mark,

yep for both groups I am working. Pretty tough of course, but I am loving it so far.

I only blog if I have something interesting or important to share. The reports are on top of that "schedule"

Steven

I blog daily but not always about successes because I don't always have them. Their just quotes which I will tie to Wealthy Affiliate and what we are doing but that is the extent.

Tried and true

Elaine

Hi Elaine,

thanks for your comment. I haven't bothered so much with quotes. Great that others do so. If any quotes are shared by me, they usually come from some marketing guy or a book about coaching and personal development.

Steven

For some the blog comes easy, it is just natural, for others not so, it becomes a chore. So, as you have done, one must prioritize the workload and do what is important for your site first then contribute to the community.

That's absolutely right. I have to prioritize on my business. Will do posts here too in due time again.

Steven

I think you are very fortunate to have all those hours at your disposal.

That is true. I also got them because I currently do not have a job. That makes it a bit easier to have them at my disposal. Also don't have kids. Have loads of cats however... and a lovely wife ;)

I started a 90-day plan and update it everyday. It keeps me on task. And, if something causes me to fall behind a little, I know what I need to do to catch up.
And, it's a little cathartic.....

great idea! So far I have a weekly plan on Sunday for the coming week. Other than that the monthly plan from Kyle, which keeps me going.

Steven

I goal myself 200-400 word blogs every day!

good job Michael. And how many words and articles each day for your website?

All comes down to priorities. I want to be active here as well, but don't blog all the time.

I am working on other things that are just as important.

When we do blog, it is excellent collaborating, so I am grateful for those that do when they do.

I can also relate to those who have other importants things to take care.

One way or the other it all works out for each of us as it should.

Looking forward to your blogs Jared, but do keep working on your business - far more important.

Steven
