Steven's SWAG and GGG May, June, July, August Report

Being completely consumed by the nice weather in the Summer as well as a new thing in my life, I totally "forgot" to produce status reports for the months May, June, July and August.

There isn't much going on in the GGG courses section of BoTipton as far as I can tell. It doesn't matter, I have way too much to do anyway.

I was on unemployment benefit for quite a while already so now I was offered a job recently and had to start working a normal worklife again. What a change that was!

I am making money online from my niche site, but it is far from enough to go without a regular job yet. I am in the same "boat" as many others here, just trying to start to get a business up and running and having to cope with both a regular job and a business as a job to run. I also believe that the first dollars earned through an online business need to be re-invested into that business to make it bigger.

So from June the 12th up-to-now and forwards I got a fulltime job fitted in a 4-day schedule. I work anywhere from 35 to 40+ hours a week within only 4 days time. I have not gotten my business so far that I can be independent entirely and run my affiliate business as my main income (yet), so a job is absolutely neccessary.

I need the income for the house, the bills, the insurance oh and the cars. Having a job also means I run that car more often than not, so it also adds more costs that need to be paid. Luckily I got a job that pays for my time and energy used with this car for the job.

Back to the results of my both websites, I have to be honest that my websites suffered a little. Although I tried to keep posting, I've not been as regular with it as I was before. At least I didn't entirely stop producing content, but I definitely could have done better. That's why these reports to you, the community are so important, because it gives me a chance to publicly publish some new goals and try to stick to them.

First lets look at what my goals were last time (April report):

Cat Habits

  • 3 blogs a week 800-1500 words each,
  • writing reviews!
  • developing download for newsletter
  • email marketing related to download.

OOB

  • still only 1 blog a week
  • developing the 7 day course
  • making a checklist download
  • email marketing script update

Above goals were for May 2018, but since I didn't write any reports since, I will take it as the goal for the remaining months too.

OOB has suffered most. I have simply dropped the entire site for now. I have plans to return to working on it, but sofar the plans have not resulted in actually doing the things for it. For those not knowing, OOB is my bootcamp related site.

Cat Habits suffered too, but at least was kept going the past months.

Here are the total post counts and word count averages:

  • May 2018 - 10 posts (1755 avg w.c.)
  • June 2018 - 9 posts (1257 avg w.c.)
  • July 2018 - 8 posts (1307 avg w.c.)
  • August 2018 - 10 posts (1050 avg w.c.)

I have to note that in August we had a Facebook contest going because we reached a high number of followers (1000) and wanted to celebrate it with the community. One of the 10 posts is therefore dragging the average word count down, because the presentation of the results was posted both in a blog post, a video on youtube and a post on facebook. The post in question had only 400 words.

To be fair, most articles that are written properly are having a minimal word count of 1500 nowadays. It is not something that I set up through goals, for the minimal goal I got is 800, but I generally seem to write more than a 1000 words nowadays per post. I think that is worth a reward to myself so to say!

I have not put any time into writing the download. As a matter of fact, I am thinking of dropping the download and instead write a sequence for Cat Habits.

Goals for September:

Cat Habits

  1. 2 blogs a week, 1500 avg w.c.
  2. Write more product reviews and comparisons
  3. Start writing an email sequence
  4. Make an overview of what ranks and what doesn't

Soon enough it is the end of September, so you will see another report pretty soon!

Hi...always good to hear from you. Being self employed means being responsible for yourself and if that means taking a job then you have to do it. It's impressive that you still put effort into your sites and pursue those goals. Continued success to you.
Debbie

Hi Steven,
Good for you, still making a grand effort.

Congratulations on your new job, now you are busier than ever

Lovely to hear from you, best of luck.

Cheers Jae ♫

I feel your pain.. appreciate your sharing. Sometimes I think when things look bleakest.. that's when you are right on the edge of something great if you keep pushing. Not sure if it will help.. I came across this video on youtube.. a guy named Evan Carmichael put it out about a guy named Dan Lok... from my understanding Dan worked his way from a penniless immigrant in Canada to financial freedom... he says he started about 20 unsuccessful businesses before getting where he is now. I actually took written notes from his video.. provided me inspiration to keep going despite hardships or failures.. here is the link..

Thanks you Candace!

I will look into the video. Yes I am also quite sure that there is something great just around the corner. Just have to keep pushing and doing the things in the right direction. Doing anything one can that matters to your goals will get us where we want to be.

Steven

You're doing great and congratulations on the new job!

Janelle

Thank you Janelle!
The job is great too, I really like the diversity of it. In the same time I manage to do most of the work for my sites on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, meaning that I have banked my articles and can publish them on demand on those times when I get home again after work.

Steven

Hey Steven,
Glad you are back with us!!
Good luck with your Job!!!
Thanks for the update.

Tried and True

Elaine

Hi Elaine!

Thanks for your comment. Yes I am happy to be back for you all, but in the same time I was never really gone.

Got a lot going now at least.

Steven

Let's hope those kitties keep you busy into October Steven!

heh Michael, they sure do. They help me to find new topics to write about. Thanks for the comment.

Steven

Well done. Good to have you back. Thanks for the update.

Thanks Glenys! Am happy to be back here, although I was never really gone. Just had been a bit too busy with everything to be able to spend enough time on the WA platform. All I managed was write in sitecontent and publish content to my site.

Steven

It's good that you were moving forward though. That's the main thing. Well done.

Thanks for the update, I haven't seen Bo around for ages, I hope all is well. I need to reschedule again too. I have been mighty busy getting all my websites SSL secured, now that's done, I have to pick up my regular doings and get into the flow of writing again

You are welcome, Loes.

Botipton, according to my PM it says he is not live, which means he left WA (?) but I still get Twitter updates from his profile.

Are all your sites on WA than SSL is an easy feat to activate, unless you mean all the scripts not being on your site hosted.

Did you stop writing?

All the best to you of course.

Steven
