Battling Resistance Part One

Resistance is a form of fear. Its the part where we end up in a state of fight or flight. We are talking here of course about perceived fears and not the real fears at immediate danger.

In the past, psychology looked into ways how to look differently at these fears and to work on the cognitive side of things to help you past your borders.

Nowadays they are much more about confronting yourself with those fears. You do get some guidance first of how to deal with the experience of feeling dangers as well as knowing what the worst is that could happen to you.

Afterwards they put you into facing your fears.

I'm about to follow a new course about this. It is surely going to be interesting.

The theory behind it, is that if you stay within the perceived feeling of fear, you will get to the highest possible point of fear. When you are on the highest level of fear, the brain will figure out there is no reason to be afraid (reality check) and then the fear just flows away again in a parabolic matter.

This is than put on repeat for numerous times. With each time this is repeated, the level of top fear will be lower and lower. This is repeated until your brain doesn't perceive any fear at all anymore with the action.

How could we apply this to our resistances, so that we can achieve what we want?

Thanks for sharing. At this very moment, I am staring my fears right in the face with being on WA right now. I am a little overwhelmed right now, and fear of failure at this, when I want it so badly. I don't look to be a millionaire, or gain tons of money with no work involved, its quite the opposite, I am a bit too hard on myself. But with all the information, and resources (which are awesome) I am getting myself confused, and also scared of spam in the eyes of WA. I do not want to do anything that would hinder my opportunities here, or have a bad reputation here. Honestly, I do have resistance right now, but I am trying so hard to keep at it. I am not a quitter but I have to get past how I feel right now.

I understand very much where you are coming from. I do have the same feelings daily from time to time. Not always on the writing as much as on the other feeling that I might screw up or not earn a penny.
I've been much of a quitter in the past.. done this or that and never completed a thing so now I am trying to prove to myself and others that I can do this and can complete something - can succeed with something.

So we have to focus on what we can do and work with that. And use the many guides on resistance to help ourselves through it.

Not everybody will open up about their fears. That's right. But there are methods to deal with it.

I have started a series of this resistance battle. More to come!

Interesting theory. I'd be interested to hear what you found through the process. There are some that carry personal fears throughout their life. Thanks for sharing

It is a proven theory. Heard that many got 'healed' from their anxiety. But it is also a tough one I believe.
