I have 2 sites with a very similar topic and want to shut 1 down. Can I use the content from the site I'm shutting down on the other site? All content is Google indexed. Thanks
I think you would be ok with that. Just to be safe you could add more to it and rewrite parts to add more uniqueness, but as your closing one site it really shouldn’t be a problem.

I would keep the old one open for a while, like another year, with a 301 redirect to the same article on the new site. That tells Google you own both of them and that it therefore is okay to have the article appear on a second site. Otherwise Google may think it is duplicate content and hit you with a duplicate content penalty.
Thanks Jeannine - I see there is a training for that so I should be able to do it no problem.

I am trying to connect to my site using Filezilla FTP, I am getting a notice saying that the server does not support FTP over TLS and that all my files will go out exposed to t
Since you are putting your files on a web server anyways, encryption and security doesn't really matter. Since someone will see them on the web anyways, if that makes sense.
If you were transferring confidential files, then I would worry at that point.
Thank you Don for the shot of common sense.
I see you are a new member, all the best to you in your new venture.

I'm looking to set up my first WA affiliate site and have found that a couple of the domain names I want to use the .com is taken.
Would it be better to use .info or .net .o
Hey Steve,
A .net, or .org is going to rank better for you than a .info, so I suggest one of those!
Carson
.info is if your putting a site that just has information like a pdf file, powerpoint presentation. Your best bet is .net
.org is really for organizations and non profits, etc. If you are not in the organization or non profit aspect, use .net
dot anything is good. If you really want the name and it's not available. But if you can rephrase the domain name a little bit to get that dot com you want than do that. Its all in the domain name. the dot aspect does not matter, unless you are doing a microsoft or powerpoint presentation site
