Reverse Niche Approach
Reverse Niche Approach
This morning I had five indexed WA websites. I now have four sites and later today I may have only one or two or no websites. Well Steve, what the heck happened?
I am using a new approach after consulting with MANY WA friends and doing a LOT of research as per Kyle’s Bootcamp instructions on demographics, consumers and markets. As my wife, Cathy has told me ( for well a long time) I only read instructions as a last resort. This may explain why all my model airplanes looked like cars when I put the kits together in my youth.
By following Kyle CLOSELY in Bootcamp, I found (and continue to find) reasons why some, if not all of my websites will do little more than, let’s be nice and say “take up bandwidth”?
Is this a disaster or what? NOPE ! It certainly is not. I have been learning, and learning HOW to learn for four months now in WA and each day I feel I am getting a little closer to understanding the BIG picture. Moreover, for other newbies (like me) let me tell you there is nothing more exciting than realizing that you are “getting there”!
Now I know that you do not have to hit yourself on the head with a hammer to understand that it is going to HURT. HOWEVER, sometimes a gentle tap is in order - which is what I did today.
I am fairly confident that I used “words that sound neat” or “cool” for my website domain names and THEN started to fill in the blanks! Oops, I am back asswards here. The ship is no longer sinking, and I plugged the hole!
Once again I am starting over to define my demographic, and gee whiz, using Kyle's examples - THIS approach is working………….go figure. The guy that started WA knows what he is doing! Well, shut the door!
The purpose of this blog is to let anyone else out there (and hopefully there are not many) who might have used my “I know more than everyone else approach.”…to reconsider doing that!
My mistake(s) have cost me about $45 in domain registration fees, so I am giving up ice cream for six months to pay for my mistake. I am sorry, but Single Malt Scotch is one of the major food groups and should not be eliminated (according to Michael and Rick).
This has been a VERY enlightening day for me, and now I return to Bootcamp (which by the way is MUCH nicer than my Marine Bootcamp).
I hope everyone has a very productive week.
Best wishes to the entire community (doesn’t that word community have a nice ring to it).
Steve

Definitely do not eliminate the Scotch Steve - you know it makes sense!
I'm pleased you've come to some conclusions as to which direction you want to move in. Now if only I could do the same!
Thanks, Jude
Well, I have decided which directions (thanks for your PM that one site is gone) NOT to go. I have not quite reached the direction I want to go..........yet. But I am getting closer !
Steve
I'm still viewing and re-viewing the bootcamp training. My blogs are still invisible it seems yet the site health tests quite well.
I am constantly re-writing and improving. I also dumped a domain name almost right off the bat and started again.
Cheers!
I hear you clearly my friend.
"I only read instructions as a last resort." - Guilty.
"I am fairly confident that I used “words that sound neat” or “cool” for my website domain names and THEN started to fill in the blanks! Oops, I am back asswards here." - Guilty

I too am back to Bootcamp.
Have a great day my friend.
Paul.
Break open the single malt and relax. I bet you have had quite the day.
Cheers until the next time.
Paul
LOL.. Well, I like my rum and, being from Kentucky, my bourbon. So I know where you are coming from on that.
I only wish I had learned the lessons that you are learning for $45. I've spent over 10k on just two different training programs..
Well, Jim - That certainly made me feel better but I am so sorry you spent that much money on sites that did not help.
Fortunately, we are all ending up here !
Stay well my friend and thanks for the comments !
Steve
Steve, you are already selling Bootcamp terrifically in this blog!
High time I got going on it myself, I desparately need this clearing therapy myself........
Therese it is a TERRIFIC teaching tool, and I should have done that first rather than starting with the courses and lessons. Perhaps it works different for other people, but for me, the Bootcamp is the best choice!
Stay well my friend and thanks for the sweet words,
Steve
Lesson 2 was even better than lesson one if that is possible. Kyle's teaching methodology is second to none in my book! On to Lesson Three and as many more as I can complete tonight.
Honestly Therese, I REALLY feel like I am making headway finally!
All the best,
Steve

Hi Steve, one of the most powerful sentences I read in your post is: "This has been a VERY enlightening day for me..."
It's never late to find the right door and use it and you have found it. The joy is in the learning. Well done and huge success to you. - Chuka
Thanks, Chuka - I believe the key is to try to make EVERY day enlightening!
