Hello, I am a 49 year-old registered nurse working in pediatrics, living in the US northeast. I have been searching for ways to make additional income for over a year w/o much luck. I really want to get something set-up and rolling with affiliate marketing, then focus on my Amazon FBA business (which I really haven't done much on yet). I am currently going through the Franklin Hatchett program but am getting frustrated with some technical issues with trying to set-up my website and the get-response app. I'm hoping to get more guidance and help within this community.

Hey there, I am so happy you've completed your money goals, am sure they’re attainable. All the best, wish you success in your endeavors.

Please follow the training and apply what is taught all is explained within the lessons. How to make money online video by Kyle As you go along the coursework, ask as many questions as you like to get clarifications, mark your question as community and someone will always be here to answer your inquiries. You can also blog your questions, that's the Pencil, top menu, choose Blog at WA. I believe there's a limit to blogging on the WA blog roll for the first three months.

Again you may like to post about why you choose WA, how you come about your niche, what are your goals for this week and the following, aspirations, etc.

Remember the WA community is no judgement. It is an open discussion. We help each other, we were all at one point where you are right now.

(The sky’s the limit however please be aware this is not a rich quick scheme however more like a long term commitment that takes months of consistent work.)

Welcome to WA.

Best wishes

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
Great goals here. The training will help you understand how this works so you can gauge how much time you want to spend to achieve your goals. With your determination to do the training and to apply it, you will be amazed at how much you can achieve.

WA is a very friendly, helpful and active community. We like to help new comers achieve success. The Online Entrepreneur Training which is a self-managed program. You can do it at your pace. When you have questions, you can ask them in the comments section after each lesson.

Now that you've outlined your goals, you can start working towards them. Remember that this is a journey and not a destination.

There is a lot of work ahead, so the more effort that you put in, the more you will achieve.

As Kyle (one of the owners) likes to say - success is very cumulative in nature.

Every action you take will add up to much greater success. I can tell you that when you earn your first money, it will all become very REAL and it will lead to much more success.

The more time you can spend working through the training here at Wealthy Affiliate, the sooner you will have the foundation that you can build upon.

We do wish you much success.

Honestly, these are great goals! There really is no limit to what you can achieve with an online business if you can be consistent with your time and effort each week.

It took me a few months before I saw my first taste of success (money) but after 1 year of following the training at WA, I was making consistent income each month that continued to grow.

I think as newbie, the important thing for us is to learn how to create content on a niche that you are passionate or interested in. And I believe, as you progress in the training, the niche that you are looking for will just pop up in your mind or you will come across it while completing your first content post. Do not worry about the most profitable niche now, eventually, every niche you get into will be profitable, if you become an expert.

How do I find a low-competitive niche? And a profitable niche?

Hi

The preference is to find something you are super passionate about, genuinely interested in and know lots about, can create lots of content addressing issues in relation to your niche.

Please see my notes on your other question which is below.

Thank you for your response. I guess the reason I'm asking so much about niches, is b/c I don't have passion about much of anything, I don't feel like I "know lots" about any one thing, and therefore I don't feel like I can create lots of content about. The one niche that comes the closest is making money online, of which I am very interested in, but don't know much about, and apparently from what I've heard so far, is over-saturated. What is the recommendation for someone like me?

We always recommend starting out with own niche vs the Affiliate Bootcamp (make money online niche) as the latter is a lot harder and more competitive, you would need to write 300 to 400 articles before you are able scratch the surface. (vs. 100 articles own niche)

You'd also need to do the whole Bootcamp in its entirety before you can commence with your site.

Recommendation is to focus on ONE niche at a time, even Kyle himself would recommend the same.

To learn more For your Affiliate Bootcamp (make money online niche) you would want to I would also want to choose a target audience, folks you'd know well, they resonate with you and you can connect to them via your content We've been here over five years and we see newcomers to the platform every day, and with the current status the world is facing, it is expected to grow and be accessible to lots more.

With respect to your writing, don't overthink it. It is exactly same as talking to a friend and trying explain something to them. You do not need to be a super expert but enough to be able research and accumulate enough data for your visitors to be able make an informed decision whether to go click your links and take on your focused offer.

Yes, finding a niche that you are passionate about is important. However, I did not do enough research when starting and chose one that I thought I was passionate about, but, am finding it hard to create content for it. So, don't rush into anything, make sure you do your research first. Check out other websites similar to your niche and see if you can create content using that niche. :-)

HI, Steve
What do you like to read about? What are your hobbies? A good niche is something that you are bursting at the seams to write about because it is something you know. It could be anything. The profitability depends upon your content and marketing. You can see profits go hand in hand with your niche. When you decide on a good niche, the words just seem to flow and when that happens, you become the authority on what you are writing about. That brings people back and new readers in.

Best of luck to you !

Hi Steve,
When looking for your niche, it's best to look into something you are passionate about so it's a pleasure to work on. Rather than choosing something you feel is more getting into, choose something you enjoy so as to make it a better experience in the long run. I hope this helps.

Hey Steve, if you are struggling with finding a niche then I would recommend sitting down and writing out a list of things that you enjoy doing or at least want to try out. It can be anything. If you are into camping then write it down. If you've ever wanted to snowboard but never have (but still had an interest to do so) then write it down.

From there you'll have a list of hobbys, activities, and things that generally interest you. From that list I guarantee that there will be a niche related to what you wrote down.

Don't worry if you are a complete beginner to a specific activity/item that you wrote down. Part of the fun of affiliate marketing is learning about something that you love doing or want to do. As you learn about a specific topic, it also opens the door for you to earn money through it. I hope this helps!

I think first of all you must choose a niche which is interesting for you, because you must be ready to prepare lot of valuable content about your chosen sphere. You must have idea about topic you choose. right? after you choose your favorite niche try use Jaaxy and find synonyms = not competitive keywords with low QSR. i think this is the key of success.

@Steve247 Hey Hey,

I hope you are well. As many have already mentioned, it will be be much easier for you in the long run to find something you enjoy, care about, or maybe a potential new hobby you want to learn about.
As a Pediatric Nurse, I would imagine you have a passion for children, whether you have grown tired of the nursing aspect or not.
For the first, I would suggest hopping on Jaxxy or just playing on google with various keywords. We all know how those rabbit holes can go. Never know where you might end up.

Best of Luck!

I am just starting out and trying to find a niche. One question I have is, is it better to promote digital or physical product(s) within your niche? I have heard that digital can be much more profitable b/c it usually requires a subscription so you would get recurring payments for being an affiliate for a digital product. Thoughts?

Hi

Either or totally up to you and dependent the niche you choose.

You're right however all affiliate programs require signing up.

Once you have acquired your niche (see explanation below), your site need be ready before you apply for affiliate programs

You would have written 20 - 30 posts and have some traffic to be able apply for affiliate programs as typically they will check your site for relevance and traffic prior approval.

For Amazon it is 10 - 15 posts. You also would have to make 3 sales in your first 180 days.

Lucrative programs - 40 posts +

Once accepted, they've given you material and special tracking code links you can share on your site.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once they do, and in accordance with your affiliation terms and conditions, how commission payouts are tracked and paid. You need to read up how payments are made because different programs follow different rules; some pay by check others via PayPal or straight to your check account.

I would always adhere to your affiliate program terms and conditions.

Any other questions you may have kindly let us know.

Much obliged and best wishes.

Hi Steve,

Honestly, both are a great idea, and yes you really want to promote products with recurring payment for long-term financial benefits. You won't be delivering them yourself so that doesn't come into play.
But you will be writing a lot of content on your niche so it is best to choose one that you feel that you could write up to 300 helpful articles on over the years.

Hi

You need aim for ONE subject focused niche site with a specific group of people. If me I would go for what resonates best with me.

The recommendation is to focus on ONE site starting out as it takes lots of effort and work get it going, however once you know what you are doing, then the learning curve would be less steeper to scale up.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to acover another subcategory.

See example blog post below A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

For example if you are in yoga
Yoga exercises for beginners

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

You can do a google search
Your niche + affiliate programs
Your niche + affiliate programs + location
and see what results you get

Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

Welcome to WA and our community.

Would be nice to hear how you are getting along. Much obliged and best wishes.
