Greetings to ALL from Adelaide in South Australia!

You Need To Make Short-Term Sacrifices to Achieve Long-Term Success!

If you are striving for goals, then you will already know it's going to take quite a bit of effort to achieve them. The good stuff doesn't happen overnight!

What a lot of people forget, or might not even realize when they start a business, you will have to make some short term sacrifices to earn long term success.

Believe it or not, to achieve your goals, it is vital that you will have to make some short term sacrifices...and this usually means actually doing some work!

So here's a few tips that might make your sacrifices a bit easier to bear...

1. Put together a list of some short-term sacrifices you might have to make to give yourself half a chance to achieve your goals. What are you prepared to give up?

2. Once you have decided what you are prepared to sacrifice, will these things need to be given up forever or will it be temporary?

3. Spend some time to think about EACH sacrifice you are prepared to make. Don't be too hard on yourself! It's essential you stick to whatever you decide.

4. Decide on the permanent sacrifices first. For example, if you were to be giving up drugs or alcohol, it's a permanent sacrifice if you decide to quit and never touch those habits again!

5. The temporary sacrifice list is a bit easier to handle. There might be a few things you need to give up like going out for dinner or going to movies for a period of time to achieve what you need to do for a relatively short period of time!

6. You can in fact use some of the temporary sacrifices as rewards. You could reward yourself once a month to go out for dinner or go to the movies if you have clearly reached a milestone towards reaching your ultimate goal!

It is really important not to be too hard on yourself or make your goals so unachievable that you'll never reach them.

Be realistic...before you know it, you will discover yourself at the foot of the rainbow!

NOW GO FOR IT!

Great article, great perspective!

I can relate to some of these like my swimming. I used to do it 5 x a week, but now I have partially sacrificed this and limited myself to 4 hours a weekend. I wake up @ 4 am still, but instead of going swimming I write my weekly blogs. I am still new to writing so it takes time, but I manage to get a decent post out once a week. Evenings after work are for research and improving my site. I have moved my desk downstairs so that I can also be with the family while I do this. Also, I find that keeping a diary of what to do when helps.

Thank for guiding and it is true we must do some self investment so that later we can have good harvest!!

It's true steve, sometimes you have to delay your gratifications

Thanks..good advice. As I like to say. What are you willing to do to get to what you want? Goals gave to be in alignment with what we're willing to do or make some sacrifices to push ourselves forward.....and enjoy the process. Debbie

You're welcome Debbie!
Gotta be happy while you're sacrificing, or as Veronica said...investing!

Good afternoon Steve,

Sacrifices right, well, my friends are wondering if I am still alive. I have hardly written any personal emails lately. I tell them I am making websites, they are all surprised I can tell you. I spend some 2 hours every day in reading, commenting posts, plus follows etc.I have now started with giving feedback not easy I must say. In between I also try to write content for my own website, never a dull moment for sure.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Taetske...

I know exactly what you mean! :)

G'day, g'day, g'day, Thanks.

G'day John...
Hope all is well with you!

Da Beast has emerged!!! Good to se you, Steve!!!

I prefer the word "invest" instead of "sacrafice"; with sacrificing, you just give up something, whereas with an investment, I'm not just giving up something, I'm so getting a return on my investment, whether it's financial or otherwise. So, instead of focusing on what I can no longer have, I can took to what I'm gaining.
Just my take....

Hullo...Da Beast is slowly getting it together! lol

You are SO right Veronica!
Your take is much better!

However, being a beast, I sometimes tend to slap the fish right between the eyes to 'help' the mortals understand exactly what it takes to succeed! lol :)

ROFL!!! "slap the fish"....that's hilarious!!!

That's actually a catchy phrase...perhaps not niche worthy,
but good enough to put on T-shirts!!!

Great tips once again, Steve! :)

Thanks rebecca...
Hope all is well with you!

VERY instructive...

Thanks Arthur!
