Greetings to all from Adelaide in South Australia!

I am on a mailing list with a group called WordTracker and recently they presented some interesting ideas about Social Media Storytelling, so I thought I would share some of the information with you.

What I am presenting here is not hardcore techie stuff, however, for some of the new beginners here at WA, you may find all of this a bit daunting...don't worry...I'm trying to get my head around all of this. It's all part of our learning experience!

I think it's important that we are aware of the new developments happening in Social Media...IT IS THE FUTURE!

Is Social Media Storytelling The Next Big Thing?

"Instagram caused a stir recently when it unveiled Instagram Stories, a new feature which allows users to combine images and videos from their day to tell a story in a slideshow format.

While comparisons were made with Snapchat, which has long since offered Snapchat Stories, there has been a lot of brands and fans that were quick to try out the new Instagram format.

Fast forward a bit and both Facebook and Twitter have now also rolled out their own versions of the storytelling timeline.

Both social media platforms announced their take on the format last week, with Twitter ushering in Twitter Moments for everyone and Facebook quietly starting to deploy Messenger Day – a new feature which sits within the Facebook Messenger app – in select countries.

With users now spoilt for choice, what’s the difference between each of these new options and which one should you choose?

Snapchat Stories...

What is a Snapchat story?

A Snapchat story is a photo or video you post to your very own stories section (or feed) of your account, which is visible by you and all your friends. Simply swipe from right to left on any tab in the Snapchat app until you see a screen tab labeled "Stories." Your friends' stories will appear under "Recent Updates." (As at Mar 18, 2016)

Snapchat was the birthplace of the story format. Normally when an image is posted on Snapchat, it’s available for a few seconds before disappearing for good.

Stories allows followers to view a picture (or series of pictures) for 24 hours and for an unlimited number of times.

A Snapchat Story is made up of a series of images, making them ideal for showcasing or narrating events or occasions, with posts shown in chronological order."

Choose snapchat stories for your brand if...

  • You excel in creating succinct, fun content - Snapchat has a younger demographic than its Story rivals, so this is an especially good option if you’re appealing to the 18-34 audience
  • You already have a good Snapchat following and want to find new ways to get followers to engage with your brand
  • You have a special occasion or event coming up (such as a launch party) and want to take fans behind the scenes

**********************************************************************************************************

So there's what SNAPCHAT is all about! Interesting...huh???

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH you might be thinking quietly to yourself (Michael?)!!!

Well, tomorrow, I am going to supply you with all the 'info' about...

INSTAGRAM STORIES, TWITTER MOMENTS, and FACEBOOK MESSENGER APP

I have not explored snap chat or Instagram yet. But whatever I do believe that social media is to act socially like we are social in most threads here

Hi Steen...
I'm still learning about both of them!

Even with many followers I do not see social media as anything but a must have when you need to promote. I think it works with limited traffic away
