I keep seeing people in blogs and comments mention a 'mentor' here at WA. Can someone tell me what that's all about. I've not been contacted by any sort of mentor and not real

Here's my take.
Do you want a mentor?
Ask for one.
Do you know what you need help with? Keep that in mind when you are looking for a mentor.

There is not a list of mentors, although, that might be a something to think about creating here, those who want to mentor/those looking for a mentor.

If you don't ask, you won't get.

When you decide to promote Wealthy Affiliate, know that it's your duty to make sure these people who trusted you to try it out, that they get their money's worth.

As a promoter, you are asking for that trust from prospective members, and there's nothing worse than finding out you have entered the deep end of the pool with no lifeguard in sight.

Personally, I didn't know/realize who my contact point was until someone posed the question about how to find the person you followed to WA.

Do not expect to be handed everything, this is a self serve buffet, with plenty of willing members here who will provide advice and suggestions at the drop of the hat.

Be assertive in your own journey. You want to make a business online?
Then jump in, ask questions, become a part of your journey. Do the training...
Did it?
Do it again.
No harm in that, some of us have gone trough the training more than once...

Myself included.

This is really awesome Rudy, there's lots of value and nuggets in your response. Specifically,

"know that it's your duty to make sure these people who trusted you to try it out, that they get their money's worth."

Thank you for your contribution.

Thanks Rudy,
I appreciate that and have received much help from the community and the training. I just saw in some posts and comments that people mentioned their 'mentor' as if that was some sort of another program here at WA and I just didn't want to miss something to help me get to my goals if mentoring one on one with someone was part of a 'program' here that I was missing.
So far I love WA and the way they have it set up and am progressing toward my goals. Thank you for responding.

what an excellent response, love it!

I would just like to repeat what others have said Rudy, that is an absolutely fantastic response!

Must be up there with the best I've ever come across here!

Nailed it! Couldn't have said it better myself!

Maria

Thanks, all!

I wasn't sure what the reception would be and I'm pleased to see that my thoughts were well received...

Am in Flagstaff, AZ, and tired. Will drive an hour further to Winslow for a nights rest, then off to Taos, NM.

Rudy

You're welcome, Steve!
That was a great question, and I'm glad you inquired.

I think when we get caught up in getting noticed online, get referrals, etc, we sometimes lose focus on our intent.
When we are being honest about sharing our knowledge and experience with others, we need to remember that we are planting seeds that will need nurturing in the future.
Of course, not all seeds grow.
Yet, you can tend the best you can, which only makes you stronger for rhe next grouping.

I have a website for affiliate newbies, and I will look into starting a mentorship program.

For those who have a program in place, I would love to hear your input and receive any guidance you can provide for me to consider adding the mentoring aspect to my website.

Thanks,

Rudy

The way I look at this mentor thingy:

There is no locked in contract, or obligation for the person who referred you to WA to be a mentor, or give help or assistance as you need it. Technically I would be your mentor since I was the person who referred you here. That's why every time you post something at WA I am notified of your activities where I can then intercept and help if I know how to. The great thing about WA is that there are a ton of experts far more qualified or more knowledgeable than me so I guess receiving quality help or advice can come from anyone so everyone is a kind of mentor if they help you with your question.

Thanks Benjamin, I appreciate the reply. I just didn't know if there was some sort of one on one mentoring program with expert mentors set up within WA that I was missing out on. Since I know now that isn't the case I'm great. WA has been awesome. Thanks for the post you wrote that brought me here.

Steve, this is an excellent question! And thank God, Rudy's response is spot on, also the Kyle has thrown in some weight to the answers by assuring you that help is always available even from him. Often times, many of us suffers in silence, either out of fear and shame of how to ask for help. I think the answers to your question will liberate some folks.

I think it is hit and miss who signs you up to be honest which I have my own views about :)

However I have never not had great help from the community here whatever the issue they will go the extra mile. They are awesome in so many ways... Phil

Hi Steve
As Diane mentioned, sometimes your mentor could be the person whose link you used to sign up.
But they are not always visible
In fact the person whom I signed up is not seen on the community chat nor does he write posts and when I asked if he mentored his members he said he is was sadly too busy to personally mentor. I did initially feel unlucky but the reality is the community was, and is so incredibly supportive that instead of unlucky I felt very privileged.
You will too

I've got a big question I'd like to hear from others about. Do you feel it is ethical to promote an affiliate product that you don't really know much about and have actually ne

A lot of people face this dilemma. You can always put in the research to get a solid idea of a product/service through video/textual info available online.

Not everyone has the budget to buy everything they are considering to promote from their website etc.

No matter what the product/service is. There is always going to be positive and negative views toward it. It's your opinion that counts the most!

One visitor to your post might agree with your positive article about 'product A', whereas the next visitor might disagree with 'product A'

Even if you know for certain it is legit and works well from your personal testing of it.

Never gonna please everybody no matter what.

You’re right. I just never want to be seen as a scam peddler...ever. So it is totally worth the research time.

Benjamin, you practically read my mind on this issue. Bottom-line? Do the research.

Personly I only promote products and services that I use.

If you're selling something you use you have intimate knowledge of the product and can answer any questions you may get about said product.

Plus in my opinion you have far more credibility because you own/use the product.

Personally I would not buy from anyone that's not using the product or service they are promotiing.

Just my 2 cents
Leo

Thanks!

I completely agree, Leo!

In this case you will have to rely on reviews. Is this product sold on several websites? This would give you a better insight into what the results of the product are like.

You can look at the ingredients and check if there are adverse effects from any of them.

It will be impossible for you to try every product and then not all bodies respond in the same way. That is why I would do a side effects check on the ingredients and the product itself. There is a lot of information available.

If you do your due diligent research I believe it is OK to sell it. It just takes a lot of research.

thanks tons for your input and ideas. Reviews are a good way to go because I don't want to promote bad products but I don't want to not help people who need it if they really need it (even though I don't need it). Thanks.

I'd like to know if I would be shooting myself in the SEO foot by changing the permalink on my site to be a single keyword for categorizing reasons when the article keyword is

All I know is it's not recommended to change this so better off leaving them alone.

Thanks

You can but be sure to create a permanent 301 redirect from the old link to the new one.

The best way to do that is create the new post with keyword (permalink).

Copy and paste the content from the old post to your new post.

Create your 301 redirect and now delete the content on your old post.

Test the redirect, if its working you're good to go.

I'm not talking about a post that has been published. I'm asking if the long title that is an seo keyword shows as the permalink, BEFORE I publish it will removing all the extra words in the permalink make the seo not work as well? I'd lilke to have just single word permalinks for ease in menus and categories.

Yes the SEO will not be the same if you change the title (permalink)

Now with that said when you set up a menu and/or categories - you can title your menu and categories anyway you like you are not forced to use the permalink.

So for example lets say your SEO title is: How to lose weight using yoga.

When creating your menu you could create a menu title like: Weight Loss

And you can create sub menus like Yoga, Free Weights, Cardio

And when someone clicks on the Yoga tab they would be taken to that page or post that has your long tail keyword phrase.

You have clean menu and you have your post with your long tail keyword for SEO.

Hope that helps

Thanks. Great idea well explained.

You're welcome

Hey Steve,

Because Google does NOT like serving up their customers dead links, you MUST create a Redirection if you change your permalink, or suffer Google's wrath with a lower ranking.

Having made THIS mistake myself, I've learned this lesson first-hand,

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks

if you chjane the permalink then google takes it as another post entirely ....that is the olny static link google has to your post....
why do you want to change the permalink...you can change almost anything else but not that ...
you can remove it in search console and then index it under the new permalink
good luck
phli

Thanks for the reply but I'm talking about changing the permalink to a single word (the category I'm writing about) instead of a long-tail more highly searched keyword BEFORE the post is ever published. I know that after it is published it needs to remain the same but I'm wondering how much the permalink has to do with SEO ranking to begin with.

not that much - you can change hte perma link from the title ..but don't go too far...
single words may be very competitive and gonig to them may waste a long tail opportunity...

That was the answer to my question. Thanks.

Is it possible to edit a post that has already been published in WordPress inside the WA SiteContent? One of the reasons I would want to edit from SiteContent is the million+ i

No once you've uploaded it to your site - you can only make changes to your post on your site.

Thanks for the info.

Not usually no
I had to do it once.
All I did was copy and paste it back to Site Content and then correct my images and copy and paste it back to wordpress

Tell me how you can get on

Great idea. Thanks Simone.

You're welcome

Hi, if you edited a document in site content and published it, future edits has to be done in wordpress. Site content and wordpress work independently.

I'd place my images in a document in site content and publish it to my site. it will be added to my wordpress media library.

Yep- I've noticed the same thing. Thanks.

Sometimes when you paste in site content, screen starts jumping up and down. Try pasting in plain text, it may work.

Once a post has already been published via site content, all future editing will need to be done directly in wordpress. This post will give you some free image sources and a work around to using the site content image library: Good luck, Shannon

Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated.

That's a great question. I'd like to now the answer also.

I tried to create an email at my domain (naturalcuresauthority.com) and it works fine but an error 'Oops...' happens when I try to forward that email to one I use all the time

What service do you want to create a forward for? Outlook and Gmail are both popular so I have attached instructions for each:
Good luck, Shannon

I have a dozen or so emails and i forward them all to my yahoo email so I don't have to log in to all of them. I tried to create the same here at WA and it wouldn't let me forward an email I had already created without deleting it first. But thanks tons for the links.

the email forward acts like a redirection - so anything coming into that email address goes straight ot the forwarded account...so no need ot create an email address before forwarding....
try it out on another email address - you have unlimited to create...
so you could have sales @ support @ and they all go to the same forwarded account....
have fun
phil

Thanks Phil. I'll give it a try.

if you do create an email here then you should be able to setup the import into your normal account
goto the email and click on smtp settings and you will find all the details required to import the accounts
you will need to check how to do it in yahoo mail

You can either create a Full Mailbox which stores the emails on the WA Servers, or you can create a Forwarder Address to send emails to an Existing Mailbox. You can not have both, so yes, you will need to delete the full mailbox, if you want to forward it to another mailbox.

Personally, I do not recommend forwarders though.

I understand why you don't recommend forwarders and I probably won't use one for anything business related (like this new one) but I have in the past with emails I don't really care too much about. Thanks Chris.
