My Warm Wishes to those on the Eastern Shore of USA and Beyond

I wanted to send out my deepest and warmest thoughts to those who are impacted by the events occurring on the Eastern Shores of the USA and beyond. I know it is no longer just the USA, but Jamaica has also been placed on a hurricane watch. I know the state of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas are in a state of emergency. Many have had to evacuate their homes. Many are without power. Many are trying to flee the area. Many schools have closed and other businesses. Hurricane Mathew has caused much disturbance and trauma and I am so sorry to those whom have lost any loved ones or other tragedies as a result.

My prayers are with you.....

I hope we can all use this moment to realize just how important our families and loved ones are and how truly precious life really is. It can be easy now to see how important building an online business which allows you to spend more time with family and have that financial freedom to do the things that matter most in life, because it can all be taken away from us in an instant. We never know just what tomorrow will bring.

Thanks, Steph. I'm 2 counties from the coast, but we are supposed to have hurricane force winds here later today. I'm staying, but sending my Mom a little further inland with my sister and brother-in-law. It gets a little scary when the sun goes down, but it's just like a movie when it comes back up. We're ready-been here most of my life. Neighbors on both sides staying too.

Stay safe.

Hi:

I hope you were able to stay safe. How are you doing?

Steph

I did well with the storm. One part of a tree fell (snapped off at the fork) in the fence row. I have most of that cleaned up. Other than that a ton of big branches huge amounts of Spanish Moss covered my yard which I'm still cleaning up. No damage and I was able to save 95% of what was in the 3 refrigerators during the 39 hours of no electricity. I have a pretty deep well with a aerator that holds about 1000 gallons of water, so even without power, I still have enough pressure for running water in the house. It gets a little spooky at night with no elec. I still have friends with no electricity. Officials emphasize we be ready and prepared for these emergencies, yet they always seem to be the ones to drop the ball. Kind of a long winded answer, but thanks for asking.

Not having electricity can be really hard and yes, at night time, it can seem spooky when everything is dark. I hope you can light candles or something similar. Glad you were able to save most of the food from your refrigerator when the power went out. Having a well comes in hand during times like these. We have well water too where I live. I was worried about all of my friends during the storm. Thanks for letting me know how you were doing. Are you still without power? Did they say when you should have power restored?

My power was restored Sunday morning just after 8. Only 39 hrs. without, but I badgered the electric company on Twitter and Facebook. I don't know if they read my stuff or not. For some reason, they went inland where there was the least amount of damage, and worked their way back out toward the coast. It seems backward to me. 4 hours after I got my electric back, my cable went out for 6 hrs. Probably instant karma.

That does seem backward. They should have worked outward first and then come inward, focusing on those who need it most first.

Thanks for this caring post. It certainly reminds that there are times we don't have control. All we can do is watch, react and hope.

Yes, all we can do sometimes is pray for those who were impacted by Hurricane Matthew and hope they are able to pick up the pieces and move on as best as possible.

My daughter from Jacksonville has gone to New Orleans, for once a safe haven from a hurricane! :)

That is good news Rick. Is your daughter back to normal now? Did her home survive?

Steph

Yes, her home was fine, and they had a blast in New Orleans, Steph. :)

Thanks, Stephanie. Our prayers are with everyone.

Prayers are always appreciated. :)

Thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected :)

Thanks Jude. Prayers are always appreciated and are very important during times like these.

Lovely message, Steph. The logistics of getting people out of the danger zone is enormous. I heard an interview today that said there are not enough roads for everyone who wants to leave to be able to leave. Let's hope it lessons in intensity soon after hitting land.

Everyone take care.

Excellent caring message Steph, we should all be holding these people in our thoughts and our hearts:-))Steph

My family lives in Martinique, a very tiny island in the Caribbean. They have experienced the strong storm but they didn't get hit badly like Jamaica or Haiti. I feel so sorry for them.
Thanks for bringing up.
Indeed, we should think of them in our prayers.
N.

Yes we do.....thank you Nathalie.

Thank you for being so thoughtful, I hope they will evacuate a lot of people

I know that they evacuated at least 500,000 Georgians alone. And of course many Floridians and the Carolinas too.

Thank you very much for your message of care, Stephanie!

You are welcome Theresa.
