If you are like myself and have gotten stuck with the ins and outs of the Editor and how everything is laid out - you are not alone....

Having spent 1 hour trying to see how to scroll to the bottom of the page while in button edit mode, I have almost given up...

What am I trying to do? Simply click the scroll bar down to where the beckground colour edit is. I have tried in full screen, and vice versa, and even tried minimising the format part of the button menu, but can't seem to get any further than the line 'Background'.

This is what I mean -

The colours simply don't show. For the background that is! The scroll bar you see on the right is for the Wordpress dashboard panel on the left of the block....It works and scrolls the left hand side panel up and down, but not the button menu...Have also tried scrolling on the right of the button menu. Nada.....Need I go on?

The funny thing is - I know it's really simple....

We will get there - Understanding Gutenberg finesse is going to take some time and I've only just started using it....With 20 more pages of editing to do. I'VE GIVEN MYSELF 2 WEEKS...

Do you think we can do it? I'm sure we can!

Meanwhile - the first person to come up with a fantastic all in-depth training on Gutenberg Editor will win a private trip to Vegas.....

Are you the one?

Please type "MarionBlack Gutenberg" (without the quotes) into the grey search box at the top of this page and see if I qualify for the trip to Vegas 🤣😍🙄

I can't duplicate the issue you're having with not being able to scroll down to see the settings for the button blocks. Try deactivating all your plugins to see if that helps. It could be that one of your plugins is not compatible with the WordPress Gutenberg editor.

Don't use the Gutenberg plugin because it's now the default editor. If you have the Classic Editor plugin installed that could be the culprit. You may have to tweak the settings for the Classic Editor plugin.

I may be a good fit for the training :) Would be good to know of the most common use cases / desires to cover.

For background color here, are you using the paragraph block? Background color does not work for Headline blocks. Just a WP limitation.

For paragraph block, you can change the Text size to get larger and still have different background color. Headlines are good for seo so use this alternative wisely.

Hi Kim!

No, I'm using the button block. I've spent the last 1 hour creating buttons and generally getting used to Gutenberg.

It's not as hard as I thought. I have finally managed to work out what I was doing wrong. All that was needed was to expand my mac screen, then use the Full screen without distractions (in Gutenberg Editor mode)

I also minimised the Formatting section in Button editing menu.

It worked and more space was freed up for me to choose a background colour for my button.

At long last....

I'm sure you'd be well praised by Kyle and Carson if you came up with a real in-depth training. You'll get real famous without even trying!

Becoming famous has a nice ring to it :)

Ok good to know. I never would have guessed the screen view issue but guess that makes sense. Glad you were able to troubleshoot and figure this out! Nice work :)
