Stuck in My Own Head

Hey Y'All! This is my first attempt at blogging. I wanted to express a frustration of mine having to do with where I am in this process. Overwhelmed to say the least, but also want to figure it out. I am the type of person who enjoys learning and feel its necessary to know a lot before committing myself to anything (Duh...I was an educator for almost three decades). I have read that you just have to" Do it", but I find that the unsure me takes hold. At what point do you stop learning and launch? Definitely open to thoughts here. I was going to place this in the question category, but then realized that perhaps it is more therapeutic, than inquistive :-)....There, I feel better already :-)!

Hey Stephanie,

I get you about the overwhelm. The best thing to do is to put aside a certain amount of time that you're JUST going to work on your website and not interact here on WA unless to ask a question.

Where you've said "At what point do you stop learning and launch?" if you're going through the training and doing the tasks - you are learning and launching at the same time.

Where are you up to in the training? I'm here to help, just let me know.

Cheers,

Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline ~ Thank you so much for your reply. I just finished the second set of lessons and getting ready to go onto the next set...I feel that I need to keep going, but I appreciate the idea of separating task from the learning. I'll give that a shot. Understanding the concepts for sure, but application seems a little daunting. I'll keep keepin' on and thanks for your support. Did you use the themes here at WA, or did you purchase one elsewhere like themejungle? My husband who is a software engineer, not necessarily in the creative sector of his profession suggested that I go there instead. He is unfamiliar with WA's options. Any thought here? Thanks again for your help! :-)

Hey Stephanie,

I had a few websites already before joining WA and have them hosted with Hostgator. At this point I'm happy with them where they are so I can't really answer into your question about themes.

I would say though - PLEASE choose a simple theme with two columns at the most. What you're building here is about your content and if your theme is too cluttered your content 'gets lost'.

PLEASE keep going with the training, do the task - and then move onto the next lesson in the training. Refrain from moving to the next lesson until you've completed the previous task - the process is there for a reason.

At the beginning of the training you're building a 'foundation' and then when that's complete you will then be building your content.

Please keep in touch and I'll help where I can.

Might be best if you Private Message me, that way I'll be sure to see your messages.

Cheers,

Jacqueline
