Well, Here I go....Off on another adventure! I'm Stephanie, a recently retired middle school teacher who feels like I got out just in time before I lost my last ounce of sanity. Funny how much I miss the actual classroom, but not the red tape which seems to have become thicker and harder to break with each and every year. Love teaching, but hated sitting in meeting after meeting staring at pie charts based on too much testing. I was also a Department Chair, Educational and Sport Coach, College Educator and Curriculum Writer during my tenure. Love retirement, but want something new to challenge me, keep me out of trouble (i. E. Away from any place that sells shoes and purses), and make a little money in the process. In other words, I want to use my time to create income and have fun doing it through the technical and artistic world of the internet community. I have the gift of gab, love meeting people, and enjoy "hanging out" with others who are active and full of energy so this feels like a great place to start on the next phase of my life's journey.

I am married to a wonderful man whom I met online 6 years ago. Between the two of us we have three "kids" or should I say grownups. We both have a passion for living the good life in our fifties and so far, so good. We live in the country where the deer, but not antelope, roam, but only 30 minutes away from big city action which we also enjoy. Love to travel, read, watch good movies and working out is a must in my routine. Just became a Zumba Instructor but so far only my two Tibetan Terriers have taken my class. Speaking of Karma and Moxie (You need a little bit of both in your life in order to succeed, right? :-)), they are another passion of mine, and I simply love to curl up with them on the couch.

It is my intent to really get involved in this community. As a former teacher, I know that you have to get your head and your heart in the game in order to get the most out of anything. So here I go...Wish me luck :-)

Hi Louie ~ I sent the following message to Kyle, but I thought I'd get your professional opinion as well. I went through the WA niche lesson as well as yours, but, alas, I'm having a little trouble committing.
Since I blame you for getting me into this in the 1st place :-) (and you offered), I would love to know what you think.

I am struggling a little with my niche selection. I'm such an eclectic person with so many interests. i started writing a book a couple years ago about how to not spend a fortune on a wedding. I pride myself on being "thrifty with class" as I call it. Being a teacher, I learned how to maintain pretty close to a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. Since I recently pulled off a fully catered, open-bar formal wedding with 110 guest for less than 15,000, I felt like I needed to share that wisdom. I went to a wedding much like mine a few weeks ago and the bride's mother told me it cost 37,000! I know you guys say that there is not such thing as an overpopulated niche, but that does concern me a little. I am also passionate about other budget conscience type niches such as home decorating coordination of accessories, and travel for less than most pay as well. I am also considering something to do with essential oils, kitchen gadgets or "Taming the Middle School Monster" since I spent many years trying to figure them out in the classroom and as a parent. I know that you say not to overthink it, but I'm so good at it :-). I would however appreciate your professional opinion. Thanks!

Sure, I am here to help you! :)

If I were you, I would reflect on what I usually talk about more with my friends, what's my favorite topic or hobby, what is the thing than I am most passionate about. That would be my niche.

Since this is going to be your first attempt at building niche websites, you need to pick something that you feel comfortable talking about and that you really enjoy doing. Something that you think you could easily pull off 50 or more articles about.

Like you said, don't overthink things. This is just your first try. Your first website. You can build several others in several other niches. But, for now, stick with just one. You need focus.

Yes, some niches can be very competitive but you can always "niche down" (find a sub-niche) and target "long-tail keywords" with less competition. And there's always the "you" factor, you're unique and have your own voice. There will be an audience out there who wants to read what you have to share, for sure.

If you need more help this article my worth a look:

Or just ask me! :)
