Improving Conversion By 100 Per Cent Thanks to Optimizely

The internet marketing world is so fascinating! Even after 1 year and a half in this industry, I keep on discovering things to improve my business.

My most popular post brings me over 200 visitors per day. However, the conversion rate of a link to my WA review was only 5%.

I just knew that because I performed an A/B test with a platform called Optimizely. This platform is incredible!

It allows you to create multiple versions of your post and test the conversion of a single or multiple links on your page.

So, I decided to test only the most clicked link, which is the one at the top of my article.

I wrote a more compelling sentence followed by the link and put it on test for 4 days. Here is the result:

As you can see, the conversion jumped to 10.24%, which is a 105.7% improvement.

So I managed to double the amount of clicks by changing just one sentence.

In practical terms, it is the same as creating another similar 1500-word article ranking on the first page AND attracting over 200 people on a daily basis!

You agree that creating such a high traffic post is not something that will happen everyday...

Isn't it amazing?

Now I can't wait to change other posts and bring my overall conversion to the roof... Well, at least I'm gonna try! :)

Optimizely is free for the first 30 days and $49/mo thereafter. I think it's worth it for those who have good traffic and are making at least $100/mo.

Google offers a free A/B test tool. I haven't tried yet, but from what I have seen, it lacks key features and it's not so easy to use.

Just wondering, as for your initial conversion rate of 5%... do you consider a conversion to happen at the point where a user signs up to Premium?

Hi! No, this is the percentage of people who go to my WA review from one specific link in that article.

So, they still have to read the review, sign up for free and then go premium... It's a very narrow funnel... At least for me. Lol

So what it does? The url cannot be changed, so I guess it stays somewhere in the middle and redirect people. Is it complicated to use? Have everything over my head now, unable to understand things any longer.

Technically, I don't know what it does Jovo, I just know it creates a different version for the same URL. And the traffic is split between the two. It's not difficult.

For this type of A/B testing that I used, there is no way to include more or less internal links to check overall conversion. You just change text and design.

"It's important to note that even though many design elements are changed in this kind of A/B test, only the impact of the design as a whole on each page's business goal is tracked, not individual elements."

In order to test a very different version of your post, with different number of links, you will need Redirect experiments or Split Testing". This one will require 2 URLs.
