I took Kyle’s offer to get feedback for my website.

Received some really good feedback.

Then my website stopped working! Yes, the website was there but nothing works. The clicks did not work and it is “frozen.”

I received a message that the site was not working from a reviewer at about 2AM in my time zone.

Then.... I could not sleep, so I check the site up and sure enough it did not work. Then I login to WordPress and the editor was working and I could edit my posts but the website was frozen.

Could not fix anything from my end so open up a support ticket.

Thanks to WA support. Site was responded to quickly and it was working but was asked to go back to old WordPress basic editor.

I also have some posts damaged and may need to check to see what else need fixing...

By now, it is about 4AM, and I have a course to deliver in the morning so this goes into the task to do list!

This is not the first time.,

When I started building this website, I had a problem with the theme I selected. Escalated the problem to the theme developer and finally changed it so I could publish my website. Delayed publishing website by 1 week.

What do you do when you hit a wall?

Oops, that sure didn’t work...

Have to go back to the drawing board to figure out another way to add an enhanced brick design to this wall...

Just look at this mess!

A solid attempt turns into a solid failure. Something goes wrong...

You asked yourself...

Did I missed anything?

What else is broken?

Will this whole wall crumbles when I build it higher...

It’s hard to feel like trying again...

Instead, we may be immersed in feelings of self-doubt, frustration, and regret.

What do we need to turn all of this around and M-O-V-E forward?

REFLECTION

Thanks to the fact that It was 5AM and I have to get some sleep to get up in an hour to go deliver training that day, I could not do anything immediately.

Throughout the day, I reflected on what went wrong?

Was it something I did?

Was there WordPress plug-in issues?

And mostly on all the feedback I received...

By reflecting, I was also applying what I learned and used this opportunity to also think about what I could do better...

Among the feedback I received was to use more images, add social media links to leverage traffic etc...

Reflection helped me review not just the problems and issues faced but also what I should do to improve and get out of this problem better and stronger to move forward.

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”

TIME OUT

I took a time out!

Just know that you are not alone. Most successes only came to be after many failed attempts.

Even in sports, you will face adversity and need to take time-outs in crucial moments to regain composure.

“Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success”

-Carnegie Mellon

I have given myself some time to feel deflated, but then plow through it, knowing that you’re in excellent company.

The first business entrepreneur Bill Gates created failed before it got off the ground. You know what happened to another one of his companies, Microsoft.

A motel and restaurant Colonel Harland Sanders owned burned in a fire. He was down to a $110 Social Security check, but went on a road trip to pitch his recipe for fried chicken. More than 1000 restaurants said no, but one said yes. Look where that went. At one point, there were over 4200 Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in the U.S.

Ted Giesel’s first manuscript was rejected by 28 editors. He submitted it to one more. Now known as Dr. Seuss, more than 600 million copies of his books have been sold – and translated into 20 different languages for children around the world to enjoy.

These folks did not give up.

RECHARGE

Take a good rest, sleep in.

Reach out to someone who makes you laugh.

Read a few pages of WA blogs articles or one of your favorite books.

Do something fun. Watch a TV show or a movie.

Basically, distract yourself. This is Positive Distraction.

Your energy needs to be recharged.

You need to get out of your own (often negative) thinking, to get back into a positive space.

In order to take a flying leap into the next attempt, it’s important that you are revitalized and renewed.

Flushed out all negative thoughts and feelings, then it’s time to move forward and try, try again.

When it seems as though you’ve failed often enough, just know that you could very well be on the edge of success.

Failing is a much better route and adventure than never trying at all.

Many discoveries have been made because people refused to give up.

I use this maxim to keep me going...

“Never let success get to your head; never let failure get to your heart.”

Therefore tell yourself, don’t give up!

Try, Try, Try Again!

Perfect timing.... I feel that I'm failing before I've even solidified a niche. I love this post. Will bookmark it to come back to for inspiration when I feel that I'm failing again.

Glad you find it helpful. All of us need a little nudge every now and then to keep us on track...

True! Never give up on your goals and plans even if you hit a speed bump or two along the way. Make adjustments if needed to your goals/plans and keep moving forward. Take time to reflect on you failures and always reach out to the WA community for help. Best regards.

Totally in sync with you.

Great post and advice. I too am having problems getting my site going.

Glad to have some company in this journey... but I wish for as little bumps as possible for us!
