Do You Need A Paradigm Shift?
We Are What We Think
Let's be honest.
What do you really, really want?
Most of the time we are not going after what we REALLY want.
If we are really honest with ourselves, we are going after what we can get.
What we are get is programmed in our 'being.' It is who we are, including our subconscious mind.
What Is A Paradigm Shift?
American philosopher Thomas Kuhn (1922- 1996), came up with the idea in his hugely influential work, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions," published in 1962.
The theory of paradigm is basically a “conceptual scheme” with basic assumptions, key concepts, and methodology.
Three examples of paradigm theories are:- Ptolemy’s geocentric model of the universe (with the earth at the center)
- Aristotle’s physics
- Isaac Newton's theory of gravity
A paradigm shift occurs when one paradigm theory is replaced by another.
In the above three examples, the paradigm shift are;
- Ptolemy’s astronomy giving way to Copernican astronomy
- Aristotle’s physics, (which held that material objects had essential natures that determined their behavior) giving way to the physics of Galileo and Newton (which viewed the behavior of material objects as being governed by laws of nature)
- Newtonian physics (which held time and space to be the same everywhere, for all observers) giving way to Einsteinian physics (which holds time and space to be relative to the observer’s frame of reference)
The above examples simply state that scientific examples that one need to change the way they think for a paradigm shift to happen.
So, what does this mean for us?
For the purpose of this blog, without all the scientific mambo jumbo, I will simplify it as your system of belief towards your goals and influences direction. It is like your invisible compass.
Know Your Paradigms
What are your paradigms?
How were they formed? How do you identify with your paradigms?
Have they changed?
These are all great questions and there maybe more...
If you want to go after the life you REALLY want, then knowing the answers to these questions are necessary.
This often includes how the spirit, mind and body works together because your paradigm manifest itself in your conscious mind, subconscious mind and body.
If you are familiar with the law of attraction, your paradigms will have a role in what you are attracting.
Your every thought, feeling and action works together to create your present results.
The question would be what do you need to change to create the results you really want.
Changing Paradigms
The following is a simple exercise you can use to change paradigm.
- Ask yourself what behaviors or habits are causing that result
- Write down the behavior clearly on a piece of paper (paper 1)
- Ask yourself what habit or behavior is the direct opposite of the behavior you just identified.
- Write down the new behavior on another piece of paper (paper 2)
- Burn the first paper (Paper 1) that contains the bad habit (this is a symbolic gesture).
- Write the new positive behavior or habit out four or five times a day and or read it frequently
Steps 7 is affirmation to help you change your paradigm in your subconscious mind and your body and conscious mind will align accordingly.
Are your paradigms an obstacle to your success?
Do you feel and internal conflict happening to you?
“Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand.”
- Bob Proctor

What an insightful post Stanley. I really enjoyed the philosophy lesson as well as the clarity on paradigm shifts.
We really do reap what we sow and sometimes we sabotage ourselves unintentionally by not addressing our limited thinking.
Enjoyed reading your thoughts.
I have slowly shifted my paradigm to create the life I enjoy now. This system definitely works.
Warm regards,
Lily 😊🎶

Excellent post. Thank you Stanley. We should never retreat into excuses when a paradigm shift is what is required but do our excuses blind us to what we really need?
Happy Monday
Steve
Excuses are also a subconscious paradigm to avoid doing something new and uncomfortable.
