24 Hours

Now that many of us are at home all over the world. Some locked down, some isolated with stay home notice and precautions everywhere to reduce human gathering and meeting.

Our only contact with the outside world is on the internet.

Some are working online...

Many attend online gatherings, church services and zoom meetings.

I noticed online activity increasing but disposable income decreasing.

In news reports...

"More than 6.6 million U.S. workers filed new claims for unemployment benefits last week, on top of 3.3 million a week earlier, marking unprecedented devastation across the labor market."

From one end of the world to the next, exactly 12 hours difference on the opposite site of the world, the same trend economically is being experienced.

Our neighboring country, Malaysia has been in locked down with restricted movement since March 18. HSBC Bank in Malaysia emailed the following to their customers.

Liquidity and cash flow for individuals and small businesses is impacted and many are feeling the pain.

Bankruptcy is increasing in South Korean as people find it impossible to repay loans.

Online activity is increasing, less money on the table and disposable income decreasing...

However, we still have...

24 hours in a day

Time is the only constant.

Some may feel they have more time because they are at home.

However, if you have been busy with working from home and doing what you need to do at home with the kids, preparing meals and cleaning among everything else.

It is still 24 hours and you soon realized, it is still not enough.

I have been getting triple online webinar requests since everyone is online. I love to attend and learn but I still find myself struggling with time to attend a handful of them.

Use your time wisely, you did not get more time. It is still 24 hours a day.

My priorities for time would be:

  • Family
  • Friends (some FaceTime and WhatsApp)
  • Health
  • Business (online), can't do much offline
  • Community (I am a volunteer and mask distribution and GOV claims are next)

so, how are you spending your 24 hours each day?

Hi Stanley,

I am attending zoom meetings during the week plus I have to complete extra online trainings to make up my work hours. But we all still have 24 hours in our day. It's nice that we do not have to travel to work but we still have to work from home.

Thanks for sharing this post as a great reminder! Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Thanks, Nichola. We will all get tired of Zoom meetings after this crisis. Ha! Ha!

You are welcome. Indeed we will!

Stanley, I'm Zooming!
All that I did in person, is now multiplied by daily Zoom meetings.
We find ways to stay in touch!
Quality phone conversations, instead of texts!
I reach out or I'm called, affording me contact with all my friends.
Funny, ...everyone is home to answer!
Taking each day as it comes!
Take care Stanley!
Best!
Barb

Yes, people zooming all over the place now...

Great post!
This virus may be the best time to take stock of our lives and focus on the essentials. But for others it can be a nightmare. As you said, a huge amount of people have lost their jobs and sometimes no longer have an income. I hope that we will soon come to the end of this difficult period because for some people it's an agonizing period.

Ingrid

Yes, it is agonizing. My friends who own restaurant businesses are predicting 25% of small business in the US will not survive this crisis and close down. With it goes many jobs as well. Praying for recovery.

You make an excellent point Stanley. I think for many, the thought of having more time has gone out of the window.
This week coming will be the first where I should be able to utilise my time better.
Hope you are managing to stay on top of everything and kudos to you for the volunteering.
Stay healthy.

Thanks, Twack. Distributed 1,000 masks in community center today.

Wow, outstanding.
