My dance in the rain was to look for affiliate merchants with programs I can promote in my niche.
My strategies are:
- Look for complementary products
- Apply to more than one merchant for same product type/category
- Have some experience with the product and/or company
I identified 10 companies on Share A Sale. I was approved as an affiliate a couple of months ago.
Guess what?
The company that rejected me was a company I worked for 20 years ago and I know the product, including the manufacturing process.
The company is HP and the product personal computers.
The reply was that my website was not good enough for them at this point in time as they have high standards.
Anyway, I expected rejection so it was not a surprise. I applied to 10 hoping that 5 would approve based on a 50% approval rate.
For all approved, I would produce one post for each product this week.
My strategy will be on writing about problems faced and how these products can solve specific problems, focusing on one problem per blog.
1 rejected, 9 to go. Hoping fo some positive news.

Great strategy Stanley, I have plans to do something similar with a new website after I am happy with the progress of the one I am working on. I figure that if I iron out all the nuances and bumps that I am prone to, I will go forward with great vigor and hopefully never look back.

Ja, when they are talking about hard work here at WA , this is the real hard work. Searching for a product, Application for approval, Writing about problems the product can solve and promoting the product.
