Will it be a copyright infringement?

Thanks for asking this question, Sam.

Youtube has 2 standard licenses. All videos and images are protected by law to not copied or redistributed. However, in some few cases, the user chooses to make their content for the Public Domain.

For the other category where the right s remain the owner...
Users can manually choose to either make their videos shareable or not. Even though this practically gives You the permission to embed their videos, since they are still linked to them.

However, unfortunately, this is something uploaders tend to forget to use when uploading and can therefore not be trusted that much.

There is a trick You can use to add any video on Your website, without the owner's permission. It is basically a screenshot of the video player, linked to the main source of that video.

It's quite effective and looks kinda smooth. Especially since You don't need to deal with the fear of violating the terms of use.
Of course, You could also use this technique as a backup-solution until the author answers your request.

Now, there are cases where embedding is ok. This goes under the confusing term of "Fair use of trade". It basically means that you are free to share and embed other's protected work as long as the marketing is ethical and doesn't obscure the material.

The author pretty much say that: You can use my ad-video as long as you credit me and don't make it into something it was not intended to be.

Quite confusing, ey? Yeah. Well, here's an example:
"A trimmed video sample that was intended for community high in Pennsylvania may not be promoted as an elementary school in New Hoboken."

Obscure, I know. But, hopefully, You get the hang of it. :-)
Let me know if You have any questions towards this, Sam. :-)

Thanks Robin, great info and something I need to look into (when I get a spare minute, so many intricacies to investigate!)

Thanks Robin, sorry for the late reply painting a house to get it ready to be rented out...

Awesome Robin, and yes can be quite confusing. But useful information no less. I am always looking at options and ways to enhance my content.

Absolutely YES! Just embed them to your post or page. Never download and re-upload if your not the owner of the videos.

actually, You're not alllowed to embed all of the vids either, without the right permission.

I always assumed if it let you have an embed code you could use it. I better go check some of the ones I’ve used!!

Assuming is only a coincidence from a DMCA takedown request. ;-)
Nah, but joke aside. Don't worry, I just answered this question quite in-details to cover the most of this issue. Let me know if You find it valuable, or if You have any inquiries to the legitimacy to this. :-)

Thx for response, Heidi :)

I have a post littered with potential products to promote. Obviously I can't put affiliate links all over the page or google will frown upon it...what I have been advised is to

The concept that you are referring to is called "Pillar content". When you have a long list of products you want to promote (I assume that there is a focus), you can list all of them in a blog post (This post is called a pillar content) and link them to the respective review pages. This is recommended in the eyes of SEO experts.

A Pillar content is basically one long piece of article that is supported by many relevant (derivative) articles.

Still relatively new here, but as @kdforsman stated save the bulk of affiliate links for the review page(s), and write posts that contain internal links to those pages. Drive the traffic to the one post, then use that post to direct them to the review post.

Hi there, You are probably best to try and add internal links to that particular post and/or write posts for those products that you haven't done yet. Then the review post you are linking to can contain the affiliate link. Kyle/Carson don't recommend overuse of affiliate links in posts. Hope this helps, Cheers, Karen

When doing review referals is it best to use links to them?
