Watch out for this!

It's only Tuesday morning where I am and three times this week already I've gotten an email from what appears to be Paypal, with the subject line:
"Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-202"

Sounds scary, so I clicked in. It looked sort of legitimate, however something didn't seem right from the beginning, but it wanted my password, then to confirm my mailing address, then my credit card number. That's where I stopped I wasn't going to enter that, there was too many red flags by that point. So I tried to log out from what ever this was. It wouldn't log out!! The screen just refreshed and did nothing.

I contacted the Paypal customer service and showed them the message, and they said absolutely, definitely that was a fraud email (not from PayPal) and was just trying to get my CC information.

If you get one of these emails you are supposed to forward it, with the subject line intact to Paypal fraud department at spoof@paypal.com then delete it from your messages. They take care of it from there.

It was just a reminder to be aware and cautious out there all the time!
Have a great day everyone

I have LOTS of e-mail addresses. The address I use here is different from FaceBook, different from my family, my other businesses etc. I even have a separate e-mail just for Paypal. I've learned some interesting stuff over the years that have really helped me spot these BAD e-mails because the same message will show up in several different accounts. I would never click a link where the business asks you any questions. Instead go direct to their website. For example, anytime I see an e-mail for Paypal I go direct to Paypal and look to see if they need my attention. Same with my bank etc. And for those in the USA - THE IRS WILL NEVER SEND YOU AN E-MAIL!!!!

Thanks for the 'Heads-Up'. Data mining thieves are notorious for this. Glad you caught it.

No problem, I'm glad I caught it too.

I get stuff like that every once in a while. I have gotten into the habit. I open another tab and type the website address into the address window and go straight to the site and then login to my account and check to see if there is a problem. If there isn't, I goback to email and forward the email to whoever I need to send it to. Never click on links in an email that you don't know. I know paypal also uses the your full name in the email when they send one.

That a great way to handle it. At the point I clicked I wasn't sure if it was actually them or not.

Never answer crap like this from any source. Do not open the email at all. This occurs with web hosting sites, banks, credit card companies, you name it. And never open attachments from people you don't know or any attachments or emails that have been forwarded to you. That's my thinking anyway. Tnx for your post. John.

No I never open attachments if I don't know the person.

A few days ago I got an email from my 92 year old grandfather who had an email account a couple of years ago that he was using quite well, but he has since gone into a home with no access to any computer for months.

Thanks for the heads up! Whenever the word password comes up, the next action is delete. :)

For sure, I think I'll be using the delete button sooner next time.

Oh yeah some of the mail I get....wish it was real I would be rich by now....can't count how much money I have won....sure.....it does get you thinking of all the scams that are out there.....???

yes, every now and then I'll look in my junk folder and read some subject lines and some of them are unbelievable.

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to us. Much appreciated,
Regards
Hudson.
