Can you explain what you did? Lots of us here are Amazon Associates. Speaking for myself, I can not remember what it said in the video, but I create Amazon links often enough. That may be the story with many others here.
Putting in "creating Amazon links" in the WA search bar will return a number of resources.
Ok, I typed the name of the product in my post and then went and copy and pasted the link where it says "get link" in the Amazon Affiliate page and pasted it to my post … and it doesn't take the viewer back to the product - I am only seeing the link jargon that I copied and pasted.
I think you are missing the step to use the "Code Editor" within the WP editor. See below. I included some notes and two screenshots. Hopefully then it will work okay for you.
I grabbed the Amazon link for an Image and text for an iPhone as this is what I want to sell on this page.
In my WordPress dashboard, I edit my article.
I change to use the code editor within my WordPress article. This is important and may be the step you are missing.
I am using the Gutenberg version of WordPress. Within the WordPress article, there are three dots on top of each other near the top right.
Click on that to expand that. The second main option is called Editor. Click on code editor. The view of your article changes. However now you can add html code as well as normal text. It includes html code.
See highlighted points 1 and 2 in attachment "Adding Amazon Link". Point 2 is important and may be the step that is being overlooked.
Then I add "code". See point 3 in attachment "Adding Amazon Link". WA does not like "code" in these comments so I had to add it this way.
Then I add my iPhone by Apple discussion.
The iPhone by Apple ........
When published, it displays as expected. See attachment "What it looks like".

Let me know here how you get on. Things like this can sometimes be tricky until you have mastered it. There is usually some step that is overlooked or at least that has been my experience.

Are you talking about adding a link so the person can see where your definition is coming from?
First, copy the URL of the article that has your definition,
Second, highlight the word in your article that you want to link.
Third, click on the "link" icon above your WordPress editor.
Fourth, paste the URL into the popup bar.
Fifth, click the "gear" icon on the popup bar.
Click update and you're done!! You should also check off the "Open link in a new tab" so your visitor doesn't lose your page.

I created a new Menu at the top of my navigation -- it's called "A Little Bit About Sqwirlgrl" - and now I can't find it unless I do a search for it in my search box - What did

You can always go back over Kyle's training whenever you want to review how to do ANYTHING: Creating Custom Menus on Your Website or even just to trouble shoot.
We all have had to do this at one point in time, so you are not alone.

if you added a page then you need to add it to your menu manually
it is not like a post wher it is added to your blog roll
so you will need to goto menu and edit the menu you want it in and add the page, drag it where you want it and save the menu
then goto your site and you may need to refresh and bypass the cache of your browser by pressing ctrl+f5
you should now see the updated menu

I know it can't be that hard … but it's frustrating when I don't know what I'm doing wrong
