What was Life before the Computer?
Do you remember the times without a computer. In 1987 when I traveled to China and Vietnam I still had to use telex and operator to make calls overseas.
Today Kids don't know the dial phone, or phone booth on the street.
I went to a Flea market on the weekend and a old chap told me this when I chatted with him as my son was so excited about the typewriter he had there for sale.
He said ..Not so long ago .....
Memory was something that you lost with age
A Application was for employment
A Program was a TV show
A Cursor used Profanity
A Keyboard was a piano
A Web was a Spiders Home
A Virus was the Flu
A CD was a Bank Account
A Hard Drive was a long trip on the road
A Mouse pad was where a mouse lived
We did not get the Typewriter as it would be just another piece collecting dust. But we had a great day strolling through Memory Lane.
Have a great Day

Very well done and much needed post Sylvia......they were good days.....those that you write about. I lived them.....they were simple and uncomplicated. It's an interesting experience now for me to have lived both, "yesterday" and "today," to be able to compare and recognize the immense difference. And generations from here, the young now will look back on today as their "yesterday" and do the same thing.

It is a great feeling, life was simpler and easier. People have been happier then, maybe only my impression. Now with the media, we know what happens in all of the worlds and hear and can see all the bad and good news. Not sure if it is a blessing or not.
Hi, Sylvia, good to travel old memory lane from time to time, I remember our first phone had four houses on one line, and some people liked to listen in when you weren't aware. Nobody had any secrets in our community.
Clay.
Yes, I remember that too. Especially when my Sisters boyfriend was calling, my sister and I listen in some time.
I got a certificate in computers in 1986. I was ahead of most. I had two Kpros ( lost out to IBM) .My husband had no use until I showed him a game that was more complicated than Pong. I taught him an earlier version of Word. That got him, plus a college degree and background in mailing, got him his first executive position. Long ago and far away.
Wow, do you still have the old computer could put it in the Museum. They would be properly quiet happy to get hands on them. Was it still in MS DOS.
This is really good.
I was going to say that I hardly remember life before the computer, but I do know that much of it took place outside.
Same happens to me, my son was asking me " Mom what did you guys do before you had computers how boring.... haha the mind of a 15-year-old teenager. Had to think really hard what we did do.

I remember those days. I also remember when the push button telephone came out. I wish I still had my "push-button telephone song book." I learned how to play many songs with that little book. I'm sure I also called some interesting places. LOL! Great post, Sylvia.
My parents needed a long time to get the push button telephone. Even in Asia, I did not see them until I went first into the first 5-star Hotel in Vietnam it was called the Khach San Nam Sao in English Saigon Floating Hotel. I met my Husband there.
I love that story! That looks like an amazing hotel. Beautiful!
It was a great Hotel lived there for nearly 10 years
