Are you an Information Hoarder?
Every day I get tempted with special offers of awesome stuff at special price. The clock is ticking. The special is going to end.
And then there is the up sell of course.
It's hard to say no, isn't it?
It's a once in a lifetime offer. You tell yourself that one day you will use it. But I bet you will never use it. It will collect star dust in your computer or bookshelf.
We tend to buy because it is cheap, not because we need it now. We think if we do not take this opportunity we miss out.
How many times have we bought stuff that we never use, after the initial euphoria?
Are you an information hoarder, without knowing it?
Have you realized how it drains your time and money. It flows quietly and slowly like a dripping tap water, without you realizing it?
There was a time I had to constantly remind myself that I will only buy if I need it now. If I need it in the future, then I will buy later, even at a higher price.
How do you deal with such temptation?

I have that problem with books, especially mysteries. I have over a 140 books and I read book maybe once a month.
Yes, know that now I have a kindle and keep only my favourite books in hardcover.
Kindle is easy as I can do a trial read and or borrow it and sent it back if I do not like to keep it. When I travel I read a lot, especially in China. I do not have much time to read but when I travel I make this my treat.

Yes, so much stuff in any area. Not easy but trying to manage it.
Before I was always thinking free or only 19 $ not much, when you go through you see all is similar and it is just with a different label and package.

I have 3 programs I am hoarding now - and a messy computer desktop. Isn't the first step admitting that you have a problem ;)

The first step to admitting it is great and easy. The second and 3rd one is going to be a challenge, as you go through in your mind your mind will play this tricky game with you.Then you see yourself going back to step one.

These days I just get rid of the text or, if it's the tv, I just go to another channel. I've noticed a lot of the once in a lifetime offers keep repeating themselves.
I have fought this devil forever, at least since I started working on what exactly I want to do. You are right. I have bought software that seems wonderful but I don't have time for the training and using. I've worked hard to stop doing it!

Can agree with you 1000%. Working hard on yourself is a big achievement. It is not easy and sometimes we don't think how much willpower you actually need.
