Life as a Retail Manager

This is where it starts, I have always been a fan of hard work. When I was too young to get a job in the real world I started mowing lawns. It felt good to have my own money to buy socks and other items I needed without asking my Grandparents. I did not want to have to rely on someone to get me by with items that I need. I wanted to be able to support myself. I was raised by my Grandparents because my mom and dad were too young to take care of children and split up. I have had many jobs as a kid. I have done things from fast food, brick laying, construction, cleaning, and retail where I am at now. I do good work at my job as a retail manager. The drawback is that it drains you. You deal with your superiors that critique every move you make. You are never recognized, you put in long hours, your chances of promoting are slim to none without knowing someone who likes you. You deal with angry people on a daily basis and you have to suck it up even if they are totally in the wrong and take care of them. These people can come into your store and totally tear you down even if they are in the wrong and you have to accept it and give them what they want. I am ready for a change. I love taking care of customers if they have an actual issue. I will make it right for them. It is the ones that want the "deal of a lifetime" or want something for nothing. No business runs on something for nothing. I am tired of putting in my hard work for nothing. I stock shelves, I listen to people, I help people, I take a beating from my bosses, I want nothing more than to be the best for my family. Retail is abusive and I am tired of it in the physical aspect. It's what I am good at and I have to continue to provide for my family. I feel this is going to be the solution to my problem. I am determined to make this work and so far I am feeling very positive about this. Thank you for reading. I had to get this off my mind.
