Spela you can use http://tinypng.com to optimize /compress your images or there is also a plugin you can install EWWW Image Optimization - Best Settings It is best to optimize all your images as it will cut down on load time.
If you have already uploaded many images without optimization the plugin would your best bet
Thanks, Tim! I already found the tinypng and tinyjpg tools.
I just wonder what to do with my photos, that are already on my site.
About the plug-in - I already have 3 plug-ins installed. Wouldn't I slow down my site if I install some more?
Do you perhaps know, if the Google will punish me, when I take all of the current photos off, compress them and put them back again?
I'll ask someone else also and then I'll write a blog about this matter, as I think this would be a valuable info for beginners and newbies.
Resizing means that if you have a small image it uses less data. Compression reduces the data further no matter what the image size is.
Michael, thanks. It's all clearer now to me.
If I understand correctly - even though I resized my images using only WP feature, they still stayed too big (they use too much data). I should use a compression tool to reduce the data, so that my site will load faster.
Thanks again...
The bigger the image the more data, the smaller the image the less data. So it is better to use smaller images if you can. Then what compression does is to take the data and remove extraneous infomation that is not required for the image and therefore reduces the amount of megabytes it takes up. Some compression software does this better than others. Also if your image does not require high definition this reduces the data further and the end goal is to get the worst computers and routers to upload your image as quickly as possible. So to answer your question you need to use some software that reduces your image data file before you put it on wordpress. As to which one to use you need to ask PjGermain as I am not familiar as to what works best on wordpress. I hope this helps you?

Are resizing and compressing the image different things?

Here's how to properly resize images after uploading: Using The Wordpress Image Editor Choosing "medium" only chooses how the image displays, which adds to load time. It does not change the actual image size.
OK, that was very illuminating :)
So, I can go and scale down every image in WP and my site will load faster? :)
Yes, it should. Many large images loading on your site will hurt load time. Also, try this: P3 Plugin Performance Profiler
Thanks, Nathaniell... but does this P3 Plugin also defines problematic images? Or just plugins?
Just plugins. I just meant that you can identify other things which may be problematic for speed.

Hi...
I was trying to add a Gravatar to my WP profile page, but when I' trying to change the email address to go with my gravatar email address, the ERROR message comes u
Ok everybody what i learned from this happening to me.
the email they had was my main email,
so I had to use another email that i use and then when i set up my website email i added my wa site and my wa email and everything was fine.
It also took a couple of pics.so i have 3 gravatars setup
example
1 Make sure you have website email setup. wp will send confirm to that email.
2 Go to gravatar set up new picture add website and email address.
3 Go to website email click confirm and it should work.
Mike!
That's right! I did exactly the same with my Gravatar! :)
But it still confuses me, why I cannot change any info at all in my profile in WP... Ok...But I don't think this is too important now, that I finally have my Gravatar on...
Thanks for sharing, I didn't take the time to do it yet..
I've run across this, I wonder if I can do a re-ask like this:
When a password gets rejected, ou a username, and the system is clogged because it no longer recognizes the user, what can one do?
How can one make contact?
Is there a limit to the number of registration errors that are allowed to happen, and is that limit very low?
Therese,
I just don't have any clue about this stuff... :)
I hope someone else will see your comment!
Spela, this is a problem that I'm still trying to resolve. Ever since I came back to WA it's been a problem for me. I will get it right!
Ricardo, I've managed to get my Gravatar fixed... But I still cannot change my profile settings in WP... I hope you manage to figure it out. I don't know anything about this stuff... :)
I'm not sure if this helps...but..wordpress gravatar works with one email address only, and whatever password you used in wordpress gravatar.
Maybe ask the question again but phrase it like this....My gravatar doesn't work anybody know why? It's more about what you want, because I've noticed a few people have had problems with their gravatars.
The point is that when I post a comment, my gravatar does work!
I have a problem with WordPress - it does not want to save my changes made to my User Profile.
The title is to get people to look at your problem and then your description will cover what they need to know...it's how advertising works.
Thanks Špela for being patient I know it can be frustrating...I was hoping to get more people involved to solve your problem...take care...:)

Hi, everybody...
About 14 hours ago I purchased a domain named fitmommy-satisfiedbaby.com from SiteDomains, got the receipt and all. I then wanted to move my siterubix.co
I had an issue with them not being able to verify my domain. When I clicked on the blue SiteRubix box, then SiteRubix Domain there was an email address to PRIVATEDOMAIN. I emailed them my problem and within minutes the problem was fixed. Funny thing was they never replied to my email. Maybe this will work for you.
Let me know if this works for you and then I will write a blog for other people to help them out....this can be very frustrating!
Spela I would go to SiteRubix you can click on the "manager" or "domain" tab both have a site support tab in the very right-hand corner.
They will be able to give you the answers you are looking for. They are very quick to respond.
Great news owning your very own piece of the internet. Congrats!
Tim
