I have used Jaaxy to discover a better name for my online art gallery website named www.arthuntersark.com
So I found a better name for example www.contemporaryartwork.com.
One of the mistake I did was to use dashes/hyphens for my domain. I learned the hard way. But it's not stopping me from posting anything on it. There were a few times my contents were on page one in first position. It is said to avoid dashes when choosing a domain. I think it's really up to the person and the content he/she chooses to write.
I also learned that a shorter domain gets more attention than a longer one. If you use dash/hyphen on a short domain name, sometimes it can look good. Like http://art-work.com or http://me-ow.com as an example. Take a look at all the big domain names out there, almost all of them have a short domain name without dashes, google, Facebook, Ebay, Amazon, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, etc, you get the point. All the best!
I got rid of mine with dashes because many people will not stumble on it without the dashes--or hyphens, as I call them! Kyle also advised against it in the training, but I had purchased it before that!
That being said, you might still do alright with it!

I agree with John. But it's the posts that will bring the traffic, so I wouldn't be too concerned.
I personally wouldn't go for a website with dashes, as not everyone will remember them and then when they do a search, it might mean they don't land on your site...
From a ranking point of view, it's more important to have great content, as the domain name isn't as important as offering high quality content.
John
Hi, if me I would not purchase a domain with dashes as it you are wanting some memorable and easy input for your visitors.
HOW TO CHOOSE A DOMAIN NAME
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
You can use Namemesh dot com - look in SEO & MIX columns
You can also use leandomainsearch dot com, you input a word and it gives you another
And godaddy valuation tool to find a memorable name.
However nowadays domains are not so affected by SEO vs writing quality rich content with good choice of keywords, latter of which would rank you in the search engines.
I would always go for a dot com domain name vs dot net or dot org as people's perceptions when they start typing they would typically assume it is a dot com.
I would not include dashes and check if the domain is copyrighted, trademarked and ' or registered to an established business.
You can use Jaaxy fo find something suitable and along the metrics would also search if the dot com domain is available
Look for searches (avg.) above 30 and competition (qsr. ) lower than 100, the lower the qsr the better.
