New Google Policy says 1800 words now is the standard to be on page #1
I now hear that google has changed their policy. Now the determining factor to rank on the first page is LENGTH and articles that have 1800 to 2000 are more likely to rank on the first page because google can determine they are more relevant . I better catch up and add some words to all of my posts.

Google has never releases such data as it undermines the sanctity of their ranking algorithm. Where did you source this information?
Thorough content has always attained better rankings. Content doesn't necessarily need to be 1,800 and I still recommend that you write until you get the point of your article/topics across.
Some might be 1,000, others might be 1,500, some may be 2,000+. For complex topics, you will find that the longer and more thorough posts (that are high quality) tend to eat up the top rankings, in particular under highly competitive keywords.
Also, do recognize that comments are also content, if you are getting quality comments, this can really influence your rankings in Google.
Thanks for the information, which is very important. Did you see an official message from Google?
Wow!!! Thank you for sharing...
I'll do the best that I can. At this time, my primary focus is on the quality and the value that I give to the reader. The number of words will be whatever will be... =)
Thanks for that.
