5 More Tips To Becoming A Great Blogger

1. READ. If you want to be a successful blogger you need to read other blogs in your niche. You need to keep informed of what is happening in your market. Reading other blog posts can help you get motivated, get new ideas, and better yourself by learning from others.

2. Constantly Be On The Lookout For Topics And Ideas To Blog About. Be like a reporter, look around you all the time and carry a small notebook with you, although today you could use your cell phone instead. I love walking, so I have a "recorder" app on my cell, and I can easily record a message to myself while walking. And even take pictures of any interesting future topic.

Wherever you go, keep your eyes open for topics and ideas that will excite your readers, and then, at the end of the day, add them to your list. Because, you do have an ongoing list of topics, right? If you could have a constant list of 20 or more topics, your writing will also improve, and you will be less stressed.

And, if you have this list already when you first start a new blog, you will see exactly where your blog is going, and how you voice will form your blog. (I read this tip while reading another blog, and thought it was fantastic).

3. I have read the following often in WA, and on other marketing sites. Structure your posts in a way that make it easy for your readers to read. AND, you can serve two types of readers:

- 1: The scanners by using lots of bullets, or by "bolding" the beginning of a new thought, idea, and by using shorter paragraphs. Use lots of white space in your article. I won't read an article where the paragraphs are too long. It just makes me turn away.

- 2: The in depth readers. If you have an eye appealing article, they will stay and read the whole article.

4. Of course we hear the following all the time, and yet it bears repeating. The first part of your blog anyone sees is the headline. It has to be appealing, and catchy. This is something that I have to work at so hard at doing. For me, this does not come naturally. But, we all need to be aware of this every time we write a headline.

5. Don't forget about the joy! Yes, be happy and joyful in your writing, your readers will sense this. It will bring your blog post alive.

Sometimes we just write too mechanical and we forget to add the human factor into our posts.
