Yikes, my WA rank is too good. Not good!
Yikes, I woke up this morning and discovered that my WA rank improved. It dropped to 39. For me that is too good!!!! Not good.
First, I will say this. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I appreciate your comments and likes. Thank you.
After all, I love the WA community. I love learning. I enjoy getting to interact with people all over the world that share a common goal of starting and growing an affiliate marketing business. I LOVE reading other people's WA posts. I LOVE getting to read what people are posting on their websites. I would rather read what you are writing than watching television or reading a novel.
At the moment, I am not actively recruiting people to join WA. I do tell people about WA if I think that it is super obvious to me that they would benefit from it. As such, my mantra this year is FOCUS. I am trying to my best to focus on building ONE highly profitable website rather than the 15 or so that represent some of my favorite niche website ideas that I do not have time to pursue. At one point, I had over a 100 domains purchased with great plans. lol I have the gift of being able to think of many, many ideas for niches that I could make money with. To make matters even worse, I have lots of other activities that I spend my time on: my ranch, my horses, my shop, my real estate business, family and friends, photography, going to auctions etc. I am also trying to become fluent in Spanish.
Yet, if I have learned one thing over the last couple years here at WA; it is that if you spread yourself out too thin, it is impossible to create a highly profitable website.
Sure, I have earned Amazon commissions. WA's training works. I LOVE spending those commissions also. Yet, those commissions combined are not enough to pay my bills each month.
So, gets me back to my WA rank. I have come to view my WA rank as or a speedometer. I discovered that I like my rank when it is between 40 - 70. That serves as a mechanism to let me know that I am focusing about the right amount of time on my websites, learning from the community and helping people in general. There are a lot of people that I know that are making money with their affiliate marketing websites that are in the top 100, between 40 to 75 or so. They include the person that referred me. So, this seems to be a nice healthy rank zone to be in.
This morning, when I woke up and saw that my rank was 39. Oops, I need to slow down and not spend so much time on WA. I think maybe I spent too much time in chat yesterday. To be completely honest, I know that I spent too much time chatting with someone that was probably trying to figure out a way to scam WA and earn money on referrals that would never go premium. I should have been doing anything other than trying to engage him....
Now, if my rank dropped because I ended up watching three of Jay's seminars last night - that is great. I learned a lot even thought it cost me sleep.
So my point is this:
In my opinion, our WA rank is not going to earn us money unless we achieve our rank because we are mentoring our referrals and helping them grow their businesses.
People that have referrals obviously have financial incentive to make sure they get the help and support they need.
For the rest of us, WA rank is more of a gauge as to how we are spending our time. If you are spending time on WA, getting in the habit of posting, interacting with people online and continually learning about the industry; that will help you grow your affiliate marketing business.
While your WA rank might improve if you spend lots of time on WA, will the time spent add significant organic traffic to your website or money in your bank account? Only you can answer that for you. I know that my time in chat yesterday morning will not and did not earn me a single penny.
The money in my bank account is indicator of how many people I have provided true value and assistance to.
My WA rank is like my speedometer, letting me know if I am going the correct speed for the road that I am on.

I am grateful that the training and webinars do not get erased and the that we can repeat them as many times as we wish.
For example, I had watched one of Jay's webinars when he first did it. Yet, it was nice to be able to watch it again last night now that I am in a spot to actually apply the things he was teaching.

There are a lot of benefits from being actively involved in WA. However, in my case it is important to not let it become an addiction.
Good luck with your journey of learning Spanish. I currently have a number of acquaintances and customers that speak Spanish so I have some extra incentive and real people to practice with.

Richard for your sake, I hope that you have not developed the same addiction that I have. Some people are addicted to sweets, alcohol, drugs, porn, whatever.
My addiction is buying domains to start niche websites. It is a problem that I battle almost every day. I used to have a folder for every domain I purchased along with key word research to blog about. On January 1, I threw the entire stack away. All morning, I keep thinking to myself- what would be the harm of at least re-creating the folders, especially for the domains that I still have ????
Yet, I know that I need to focus.

I don't buy and set up mine with plans to resell. I buy mine with plans to build the websites out and monetize them some day via affiliate marketing. I have come to realize that I will need to be able to hire a significant sized team of writers to have any hopes of doing that. So, I shall focus on one site for how and maybe hire the team in the future.

I'll keep some of them for myself and make them profitable.

Hi Sondra - yes, it's sooooo easy to get sucked into WA. In a sort of good way. There are always interesting, informative blog posts and training. But it takes a massive amount of time. Time which you're not spending on your busiess. It can be a sort of procrastination device :-) I've absolutely no idea how anyone in the top 100 has any time to spend on their site. I keep meaning to slow down and spend more time on my site but there's always something interesting in WA to chcek out, as well as Qs that I think I can help with.
Your speedometer sounds like a great idea but I think I should just aim for the top 1000 :-)

Thanks. I am glad that you can relate. it is nice to be able to help people, as time permits.
The training, tips and industry knowledge we get when we are active on the platform is priceless. So, I would not recommend shooting for the top 1,000. Top 200 maybe?

Thanks, for sharing this Sondra, I noticed that my rank dropped well. I also do the same use it as a meter, but, I do not focus or aim to get a low ranking because I understand people need help which I love to help others.
However, I need to also focus on my site which is need of my attention every day until I get things under control. So, I set a timer for about an hour of my time to be in WA community. I usually try to do training and answer a few questions then move on to my site.
I also agree that my WA ranking will not change my bank account balance. So, I must stay focus. Thank you, for sharing this valuable information. I really appreciate it.

Similar to you, I feel bad if I was to not answer a question or ignore a member that needs help.
As both of us continue to help others AND focus on our websites, I expect this is going to be a very profitable year for both of us.
I see what you guys are saying about the ranking system. I feel like the WA ranking system is directly related to how much money you make. For example, the ones in the top 10 are probably making more money on average from online ecommerce, website building, etc. than the average from the top 100. And the top 100 are probably making more money on average than the top 1000 average.
It is a learning process for me too. I'm a coach with focus on learning. I love to watch my coping with it and my progress. :-) It is challenging sometimes. However, I love to experience myself better and better with all I do!

There are a LOT Of people that are earning a full time income that do not have a good rank.
You will possibly see a few of them talk when they tell us about how much they enjoyed their trip to Vegas when the super affiliate conference is over.
Maybe one of these days, I will have time to compile a list with their names and one of their success stories.
And then there are even more people that never share a success story. After all, not all people want the whole world to know how much they make.
