What I've learned in the last 8 months as a WA member

I’m about to celebrate my 8 month anniversary as a Wealthy Affiliate member. Back in November, a bookkeeping client/friend of mine was making a $299 monthly payment to a company for an online marketing training program. I was skeptical and concerned that he was getting ripped off. While researching that particular program, I stumbled upon the Wealthy Affiliate (WA) training program. To make a long story short, I decided that I wanted to learn more about affiliate marketing. I also thought, and still think, that the website hosting that WA affiliate provides in addition to the training makes our monthly fees a great deal considering the price we are charged.

To be honest, I am not anywhere remotely close to making a full time income with affiliate marketing. I am not focusing enough time on affiliate marketing to make it a full time endeavor. Yet, I am getting my money’s worth by being a WA member.

WA has allowed me to learn a lot about affiliate marketing, online marketing and the online retail business in general. As I have been on this educational journey learning about the world of e-commerce, I have decided that I will be happiest marketing and selling my own “store’s” products rather than devoting all of my time to marketing someone else's. As I’ve been working towards setting up a profitable online store, I’ve been amazed at how many affiliate marketing opportunities there are out there.

Thanks to my WA training, I am constantly on the lookout for affiliate marketing opportunities that will compliment the various websites and businesses that I own. When I visit online stores and websites that I like; I almost always take the time to see if they offer an affiliate program. I am constantly amazed at how many affiliate marketing opportunities are available.

Additionally, I’ve discovered that the things we are learning on WA with regard to key word research and creating good content are applicable to any type of online store or website.

Since this post has already gotten long and wordy, I’ve decided to cut off the majority of it and create a series of posts. The series will include the terms and online affiliate marketing opportunities that I’ve discovered since joining WA. These will include:

1. What is affiliate marketing
2. C-Panel access
3. Online market places –Amazon, Ebay & Etsy
4. E-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Cratejoy
5. Woo-commerce and other online commerce solutions
6. Drop shipping
7. Fulfillment Centers
8. Monthly Subscription Box services

Each of these topics provides opportunities for affiliate marketers in different niches. Again, the most important thing that I’ve learned on WA is that good content and doing keyword research is vital to any business operating online regardless whether you are serving as an affiliate marketer or the actual seller.

From time to time, I hope you get a chance to reflect on what you have learned since you joined WA.

Best wishes for lots of success-

Sondra

Thanks for sharing this beneficial reminder. Looking forward to your next posts!!!

Great Learning.

Can't wait for your post about e-commerce platforms. I'm planning on creating a site in the future to sell some physical products of my own.

There is so much to learn so I appreciate any kind of reinforcement. Congratulations on your progress. Debbie

Thanks for sharing your experience here at WA Sondra. What we learn through the lessons and the community input is definitely well worth what we pay for our membership here.

Hi ! Good post and good for you to make a decision and go with it!

Have you found that WA offers any plug ins to support an online store? For example, I'm thinking of adding a second site, this site will have products/services for sale and the site users can add those services to their "cart" and check out at the end of the session.

Does WA or site rubix have anything that supports this type of a business model?

Hey Jason,

WA offer sooooo much for so little ... but no, they do NOT offer plugins. Doing a quick Google search, I found the following post that may offer you the help you seek: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/best-wordpress-ecommerce-plugins-compared/

Hope this helps you.
