Big Fish, Little Fish, Bunch of Fish?

When you read people's success stories, do you sometimes ask yourself, " Am I doing something wrong?" "Should I be doing something different? I do. Frankly, this week I've been sad that I haven't had more successes in my own business to celebrate. Instead, I've just got more draft posts to finish up. I am not working for free. I am investing my time for future success. Yet, no successes to celebrate = no additional money in my bank account.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love reading about people's success stories. They are motivational & inspiring. It is nice to be able to celebrate people's accomplishments with them. There is usually a lesson to be learned. Each time I read a success post, I also consider whether the lessons will or will not work for me. How about you? Do you do that?

As we have been told multiple times, there is no one way to success in affiliate marketing. For instance, I know that pay per click (PPC) advertising, is not the model that I want to employ. Yes it may work. I am really happy for people that are achieving success with PPC advertising. However, the fish that I am interested in are not going to like that kind of "bait."

That would be like trying to feed my pet beta fish a worm. Some fish can be caught with worms. Some fish want to eat minnows. Some big fish want smaller fish. You get the idea?

You've got to know what type of fish you are trying to catch. You've got to understand your target audience.

How well do you know your target audience? Are you building a website and processes that will allow you to successfully support those people once you have caught their attention?

I hope that you have a super productive week.

Hi, Sondra.
I, too, am pleased when I read of other members' success stories.
If they are using a particular tactic or tool that I think may help my cause, then I will consider using it as well.
I am just getting to know my audience and they are quite active on social media, so I am developing that side of my business. Visits to my website have increased a lot since I started doing this. Some have even clicked through to my affiliate offer but have as yet to make a purchase.
Keep on going with your efforts, more successes will come to you.
Best wishes,
Steve.

Hi Steve,

In the last 30 minutes, as I've been waking up with my cup of coffee, you are the third person that has mentioned social media. Knowing that is exactly where I also stalled in my training - the setting up social media part; I probably should work on that.

Thanks for sharing your experience with social media and the fact that you audience is very active there. (Since I haven't looked, I don't know if mine are. lol)

I hope that rest of your week ends up being super productive.

Best wishes.

Hey Sondra,

Yes, its easy to fall into this trap, I used to do it; I don't do it anymore. Laser-focused on my own stuff.

Those who are willing to put in the sweat and the time, will achieve success in their own unique way. As you say, you have to know what kind of fish you are trying to catch. That's the beauty of it.

You will this year, and so will I:)

Kaju

Thanks for the reminder and confirmation, Kaju.

Ironically, I just happen to have the word "Laser Focus on 1 Goal" written in huge print on a white board by my desk.

I will be in Vegas 2020 with you. I hope you have an amazing day.

Yes, that is my approach as well. I don't do any PPC, Google Adwords etc. I rely on organic content and focus on answering questions and offering solutions. I find very good keywords and use those to build a post about a topic I already know about or can learn more about.

Hi Jessica, I know your approach is working also. Even though the PPC works well for others, it is wonderful knowing that there is no one perfect way that will catch all of the fish.

I hope that you have a wonderful Valentines Day!

Hi Sondra,
I feel that I know who my targeted audience are. I have had several of my post Indexed not Google and people visiting and sharing my post on FB. So, I hope it want be long until I start reaping some rewards;)

But, I try to keep in mind that success doesn't happen over night! (I wish it would)

Hang in there it will happen sooner or later!

Happy Hump Day,
Donna:)

Hi Donna,

Success is in the air for a lot of people. I have not worked hard enough on my site that promotes WA yet to be earning referrals and sales yet on it. So, I'm more motivated than ever to work hard on it. I just won't use PPC advertising.

I hope you will be reaping rewards very soon yourself. Happy hump day.

Sondra,

My mind is open to many different ideas because I am writing to help others.

Who?

My dear friend, I don't know.

I feel as if I am writing to everyone.

Today in my a post I made mention about referrals not readily bitting the premium bait.

So, I do know what you're talking about.

You have given me food for thought though.

From now onwards, I will refine my writing towards a target audience.

This makes a lot of sense.

Blessings
Maxine

Hi Maxine, I am SUPER, SUPER happy for you.

I think it was yesterday that there was people talking about using the pay per click method to get referrals. One of the individuals later told someone else on her post that if she would follow the training and do pay per click, she would succeed.

I know that is not the type of marketing that I want to use. As coach Grace has said, there are many different methods. I am using the old fashioned SEO route.

Whatever you did is working. I would try to replicate it. What did you do?

The more we focus on writing for a specific audience, the better we can attract their attention.

In my real estate niche, I am having to decide if I want to focus on young couples that want to start a small farm. Or do I want to focus on people that own lots of horses and have big fancy places. The way I talk to each group would be very different.

I am attempting to apply a very similar principle to my website that will help me earn my way to Vegas 2020 so that I can be there with you my friend. (I am not going to get left behind. ha, ha.)

Great questions Sondra. Look forward to hearing more responses.

Makes it easier to swallow when I read about others struggling besides those great success stories.

Thanks
Barry/Barney44

Thanks Barry.

Focusing on your audience, not matter what niche you are in is very important. Even people that are successful using the pay per click model have to test and aim for the correct audience other wise they waste money.

Those of us that are struggling will eventually succeed as long as we follow the training.
I hope I will be reading some success stories from you soon.

If you are using PPC, that is fine and I will be happy for you. People like Little Mama (Grace) and others have still achieved success without it.

Good questions to think about.

Thanks a lot for sharing!

Thanks Bob. Figuring out what your target audience wants is very important to meeting their needs.

I hope I'll be reading one of your success stories soon.

I concentrate on Keywords and content. I post to my website almost every single day a minimum of at least 1,000-1,500 words.
My website style is no frills similar to Grace's site and I write scam product reviews almost exclusively.

Although not much, I have had a paypal deposit from WA every single month since February 2018 so for a straight year.

That proves to me it works. It just takes time. I only have about 1/4 the number of post that Grace has so I know it will happen for me in 2019 at the rate I'm going.

I never doubt the power of WA if you follow the training to the letter.

Fran, that is AWESOME!!!

Both you and Grace are excellent examples that the good old fashioned SEO strategies work.

Maybe I should follow what you are doing and make myself publish something every day even if it is only 1,000 - 1,500 words. I have tended to want to exhaust myself on the subject all in one post. The one from yesterday is sitting over 5,000 words.... Thank you for the motivation.

Well when I started out, I couldn't for the life of me force out more than 400-500 words. The more I wrote the longer my post got.
Most of the people that are successful say that 1,000-1,500 words is sufficient but I do see that a lot of them do write from 2,000-5,000 words. The most I have written is 7,500 words in one article.

That's fine if you can write that many words every day but most super affiliates do post every day.

My feeling is it's better to post 1,500 words every day than 5,000-7,000 twice a week.

It would not hurt for me to try that strategy. As I think about it, I can always link to the other posts that have content that would have been part of the original article.

It sounds like you and the other super affiliates have basically gotten yourselves into a rhythm. Where as, there is no real rhythm to my current routine. Mine is more of a go with the flow and work around visitors that come into my shop; read, research and write until I fall asleep. Then do it again the next day.

Thanks again for the inspiration that I am going to try to use to improve my productivity....

It's so important to have a routine or rhythm. My best time to write is early in the morning when the house is quiet.
I get up at 4:30 - 5:00 every morning and write one or two articles while I have my coffee, before my husband gets up. Sometimes I will write a couple more in the evening after he goes to bed.

I strive to keep 10-20 extra posts written ahead and saved in draft on my website so if I have a day that I can't write I still have something to post.

I wish you success, my friend!

Well after your tips today, I am about to chop a 3,000 word article that I have written today and use it for two posts. lol. I've got to get the habit in place.

Fran, I also hope that you will be finding even greater success.

You make some excellent point, Sondra, thank you. Like you, we have decided that our target audience likely won't appreciate being bombarded with indiscriminate ads and so have no intention of signing up for PPC. If that means we have to wait longer for a regular flow of income to come in then so be it.
Colette and Philip

Colette and Philip, those are my thoughts exactly.

I also tend to think that the SEO route is more sustainable long term without having to continually pay to keep the ads going.

Hi Sondra
I don't use PPC either as I simply can't afford to right now and I believe content is key for people, so keep on building and all will be great along the way
Vicki

I agree with you. Grace (Little Mama) is a great example of a person who had done very well by just focusing on content.
