Remove the Naughty Word "Not"

I was driving down the road a couple of days ago and I was thinking about things I want to get done to my websites. I was also thinking about how I would like to write a book at some point.

I have a lot of ideas but it seems most often I allow other things to get in the way. I procrastinate or I get discouraged. This little voice in my head says you can do this! But then there is another voice that says "don't waste your time, you will never be able to do it."

I work a full-time job that takes up a good portion of my day. Most often I would rather be working on my websites or writing.

My biggest obstacle is that naughty word - "NOT" - you know the one that attaches itself to those positive words like can, do, would, or should - making them cannot, do not, would not, should not, and other negative words.

If we remove the word "not" those words become more positive.

I began to think about this as I drove down the road. What if I remove the word "not" from some of my vocabulary?

What if I said "yes, I can" instead of "no, I can't do that?"

What if I said "I can make time for the things I want to do instead of focusing on "I don't have time?"

Removing that word - "not" has given me such a better outlook on things.

I began to feel so excited that if I just start using the correct words, the more positive words then I "can do this!" I can write! I can become successful with my websites! I can write that book that I have been wanting to write!

I have planned to take some time off over the next couple of weeks and I told my husband (also my boss) that I want to focus on planning for the next year. I want to fit more writing into my schedule. I want to fit working on my website into my daily routine, or at least more than I was able to do this past year.

I hope this helps someone else. I just had to share.

Yes, indeed, Pamela! All negative words should be removed or at least downplayed!

It is all about thinking positive Pamela. I'm happy you discover the difference in reframing your thoughts and mind

It is good to observe your own habits, and especially when the negative things -- like the "nots" -- creep into your day. You will benefit greatly from removing that negative word.

It helps me Pamela, its a big reminder that I need to get my plans formalised. I’ve gone as far as buying the new diary and putting birthdays in. Just need to sit down and set targets and not “not have time to do it”.
Best wishes for Christmas.

Thanks for the positivity Pamela. Sounds like you boss will approve your request if he knows what's good for him lol

Hugh, your reply is so typical of husband/wife working relationships. I sometimes ask myself “I’m the boss so how does that work then”. I’m just too soft.
